Happy Friday! What a crazy week its been. We are trying to be as productive as we can with the time we are here at school. These snow days have definitely set us back a bit. That being said, we have placed passwords to Study Island in the student planners. This is a great resource to use to practice higher level reading skills and math processing. It would be fantastic if you encouraged your child to work on it several times a week. It can even replace the reading log for the 100 minutes as long as you record that that they were on it, and they still complete a response to what they learned about. Multiplication Contracts Several students in our class are working on their multiplication contracts. Please encourage them to master both multiplication and division facts through twelve. We will have a test over just our 12s next week. Math Homework Packets We will be sending home new math packets Monday, February 10th. Please remind your child to be completing it and discuss each page with them. Famous Missourians Students have almost completed our rough draft of our Famous Missourians. If students are unable to complete it this week during our writing time, it will come home for homework. The final paper must be single spaced, neat and written in pencil. Students will need to complete the editing and revision steps of the writing process and must show proof for a writing grade. This means their rough draft should show editing and revision marks in their own handwriting. Valentines We will be making Valentine bags, here at school, during our Valentine party. Students do not need boxes but may bring Valentines and treats. Please remember to check the healthy choice list for treats. A class list has been attached for Valentines. If you have donations of large boxes of Raisins you may send those in any time. We will be creating graphs using the Conversation Valentine Hearts. If you can provide a bag of the hearts please email me. We will need 2-3 bags total for our activity. Honor ChoirHonor Choir will not meet next week. They will resume meetings the week of February 18th. Art Mrs. Stricklin continues to need milk jugs :)
