Suicidal Thoughts
Suicidal thoughts, also known as suicidal ideation are

thoughts about how to kill oneself, which can range from a detailed plan to a fleeting consideration and does not include the final act of killing oneself. The majority of people who experience suicidal ideation do not carry it through. Some may, however, make suicide attempts. Some suicidal ideations can be deliberately planned to fail or be discovered, while others might be carefully planned to succeed.

Causes of Suicide
It is very rare that someone dies by suicide because of one cause. Thus, there are usually several causes, and not just one, for suicide.
Untreated mental illness (including depression, bipolar

disorder, schizophrenia, and others) is the cause for the vast majority of suicides. caused by genetics. In such cases individuals who died by suicide did not exhibit any symptoms or appear to have any serious problems. In these cases, it is possible that the person had depression that occurred because of this genetic factor.

Some people die by suicide because of a depression that was

Depression
Many people die by suicide because depression is triggered by several

negative life experiences. Some of the causes that cause depression are as follows: The death of a loved one. A divorce, separation, or breakup of a relationship. Losing custody of children, or feeling that a child custody decision is not fair. A serious loss, such as a loss of a job, house, or money. Chronic physical pain or a accident. Intense emotional pain. Loss of hope / feeling helpless

Being victimized (domestic violence, rape, assault, etc). A loved one being victimized (child murder, child molestation,

kidnapping, murder, rape, assault, etc.). Physical abuse/Bullying Verbal abuse. Inability to deal with a perceived "humiliating" situation. Inability to deal with a perceived "failure." Alcohol abuse. Drug abuse. A feeling of not being accepted by family, friends, or society.

Teenage Suicide
Teenage suicide is a serious and growing problem. The teenage years can be emotionally turbulent and stressful. Teenagers face pressures to succeed and fit in. They may struggle with self-esteem issues, self-doubt, and feelings of alienation. For some, this leads to suicide. Depression is also a major risk factor for teen suicide.

WHAT OUR CONSTITUTION SAYS ABOUT SUICIDE

PART - 3
FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS

ARTICLE NO. - 21

Protection of life and personal liberty No person shall be deprived of his life or personal liberty except according to procedure established by law.

HOW ARTICLE NO. 21 MAKES SUICIDE UNCONSTITUTIONAL ?

Protection of life and personal liberty is also stated under right to life and personal liberty. Article 21 declares that no citizen can be denied his life and liberty except by law. This means that a person's life and personal liberty can only be disputed if that person has committed a crime. However, the right to life does not include the right to die, and hence, suicide or an attempt thereof, is an offence.

LAW AGAINST SUICIDE

SECTION 309 OF IPC
Whoever attempts to commit suicide and does any act towards the commission of such offence, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine, or with both.

LAW AGAINST ABETMENT OF SUICIDE

SECTION 306 OF IPC
If any person commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such suicide, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.

TRAIL TO AMMEND IPC SECTION 309

A Division Bench of the Supreme Court of India in P. Rathinam v. Union of India (AIR 1994 SC 1844) held that the right to live of which Article 21 speaks of can be said to bring in its trail the right not to live a forced life, and therefore, section 309 violates Article 21. This decision was, however, subsequently overruled in Gian Kaur v. State of Punjab (AIR 1996 SC 946) by a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court, holding that Article 21 could not be construed to include within it the right to die as a part of the fundamental right guaranteed therein; therefore, it was ruled that it could not be validly stated that section 309 is violative of Article 21.

!
In 2008 the Law Commission of India submitted a review to the government to repeal section 309. The Law Commission said "The Supreme Court in Gian Kaur focused on constitutionality of section 309. It did not go into the wisdom of retaining or continuing the same in the statute." The Commission has resolved to recommend to the Government to initiate steps for repeal of the anachronistic law contained in section 309, IPC, which would relieve the distressed of his suffering. Suicide rate in India, is above "the average world suicide rate."

Prevention

! A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that

doesn't mean that help isn't wanted.

Most people who commit suicide don't want! to diethey just want to stop hurting.

1.DON'T THINK THAT SUICIDE IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING.

2.Don't be afraid to ask for help.

3.Put yourself in other people's ! ! ! shoes.!

"

4.Try to be accepting.

This may seem like one of the hardest things that anyone can do in their lives, but it seems completely necessary if one wishes to be truly happy. Try to believe that everything happens for a reason, no matter what the situation was. Things will get better, but you just have to believe that they will. Don't give up

5.TRY TO FIND WAYS TO DISTRACT YOURSELF FROM THINKING THESE THOUGHTS.

" !For example, sometimes when you feel depressed or feel suicidal, you can calm down by listening to music, writing stories, watching TV, playing video games, hanging out with friends, etc. There are a lot of ways that you can distract your mind, believe it or not. But you have to have the initiative to do those certain things and try to get out there and live life to the fullest.
