Support Letter Guidelines

1. Do make your letter personal. Be yourself in your writing expression. We

encourage you to write why you are going and what you hope to see God do
in and through you.

2. Do make it spiritual, but please be sensitive. Avoid preaching, sermonizing

or outlining biblical passages.

3. Do use one or two verses that are appropriate to what the Lord is teaching
you and doing in your life.

4. Do be specific and try to limit the letter to one page.

5. Do check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Have someone

proof your letter.

6. Do make the letter appealing to the eye, original, and easy to read.
Artwork, headings, and space will help the reader understand the message.

7. Do mention your financial aid.

a. Example: “The cost of our Zambia trip will be about $3200 per person.
If you feel led to share in this ministry, you can make checks payable to
the Bible Fellowship Church of Royersford and enclose a note
designating it for my support.”

8. Do mention the date by which you need your support raised – January
14th, 2007

9. Do mention where to send the support

 Example Support Letter #1
(from back when we were thinking of going to Zambia)

Dear Friends and Family,

I am writing to share with you the fantastic opportunity that the Lord has provided
for me this summer.

I have been chosen to serve on a short-term mission team to Zambia with the youth
group from the Bible Fellowship Church of Royersford Youth Group.

When: Last 2 weeks of June, 2007

Where: Zambia

Cost: About $3200 per person. This covers airfare, food, shots, visas, and
materials. Each team member is responsible for raising 100% of their financial and
prayer support

Purpose: The first and foremost reason for going is to share the Good News of
Jesus Christ with the people in Zambia. We will be working in local villages and
orphanages, doing programs for kids and families. We’ll also be doing some work
projects in the community, as well as visiting and getting to know many of the
children and families there.

Prayer Needs: 1) God will use us to bless the people there

2) Team unity
3) I will be open to what God wants to teach me

I am so excited about this trip! Will you please consider sharing this opportunity
with me as you are led to pray and/or give? Financial support is essential to my
going on the trip, but of equal or greater importance is your commitment to pray!

(this one was from back when we went to Poland)

summer.

d. Do nothing.
