Copewithbasicmusictheory,e.g.identifymajor&minortriads,rhythmicgroupings. Vocalistsshouldbeableto: Showevidenceofsoundvocaltechniqueandexperienceinthejazzstyle. Singatleast3tunesfromthejazzstandardrepertoireinthecorrectstyle. Identifyintervalsaurally. Readmusicatanintermediatelevel,atleastslowly. Copewithbasicmusictheory,e.g.identifymajor&minortriads,rhythmicgroupings. Drummersshouldbeableto: Present three pieces of differing styles typically found in jazz. These can be played solo, with accompaniment,orwithrecordedbacking.Chartreadingabilityshouldbeevidentinatleastonepiece. Improvisationalabilityshouldbeevidentinatleastonepiece.Specifically,youshouldbeableto: Playthedrumsetatareasonablelevelofproficiency,havingmasteredthebasictechnique. Showevidenceoffamiliaritywithandcomfortinthejazzstyle. Playthevariousrhythmpatternscommontothejazzstylewithagoodtimesense. Identifyrhythmsaurally. Readmusicatanintermediatelevel,atleastslowly.
