Vision Statement

My interest in architecture is fueled by my desire to design healthy lifestyles for people. As a fitness professional, I understand the inherent relationship between movement of the human body and architectural space. Architecture-- space, material and light-- connects people to nature and influences our health. A well designed space can uplift and relax, even energize a persons mental state and physical well-being. Good design provides human beings the opportunity to express their physical diversity and cultural connectivity. As an aspiring architect, my goal is to create designs for healthier lifestyles through human kinetics, ergonomic comfort and cultural experiences. 2

design a room from a 12x12x12 cube, select a verb to manipulate the space with a place to sit, sleep and circulate. Focus: translate what is seen into the language of drawing (using line, shape, and value).

strengthen & interweave the existing city fabric and its special continuity of passage, place & threshold. The program is divided into four walls consisting of the wall of city, surveyor, books & light, as well as two spatial volumes, one of center & one as line.

design a campus prototype using a modular system of masonry based construction to house classrooms, a library, cafe, gym, and administration offices.

NCSU School of Architecture Spring 2013 ARC 302: Technology

Concept

a modular flexible system to accommodate fluctuation in campus enrollment. Prefabricated units (based on shipping container dimensions) were designed for semi-trailer delivery and minimal on site erection. A primary set of composite brick panels comprise the exterior wall for each modular unit. A second set of panels are installed on site and act as the traditional transitory skirt.

NCSU School of Architecture Fall 2012 ARC 432: Construction Systems Second Place Masonry Wall Competition Sigmon Design Competition NC Masonry Contractors Association

Project Description Concept

design a wall from masonry with a new bond. to celebrate masonrys modularity & versatility in different levels: size, depth, structural capacity & materiality. A logical response to the current use of masonry in construction; dimensions are at a bigger scale, demonstrates different levels of structural & non structural uses of masonry units, veneer wall & load bearing wall. Has a more dynamic face. CMU & brick were chosen given their commonality to take advantage of its simplicity. It challenges the common misconception that the use of masonry has to look traditional and monotonous.

Project Description Concept

design a new concrete modular unit. combine the benefits of a tradition CMU (durable, affordable, common, local, modular & fireproof) with improvements to its disadvantages (low r-value, unsustainable, & appearance). We created a dynamic facade, vertical track (with the optional addition of a living green wall, eatable wall system, LED or photovoltaics). We improved the r-value without changing its modularity or structural ability.

Project Description

The Prague Institute Fall 2013 ARC 401: Urban Design design a structure for an empty lot located in Prague, Czech Republic, District Prague 10, Vrsovice. Improve problems and enhance the communitys activities, including; a space for lectures, gatherings, art displays, exhibits, festivals and seating. In addition, preserve cut through paths, trees and maximize the exterior space.
