Observation of the class: When the teacher entered the classroom all students were running around the

classroom. It took her two minutes to calm them down and to make them sit. The class began in Serbian. First the teacher said: Hajde, da pogledamo domai. Bili ste na rekreatvnoj da vidimo sada domai. Turn on the page 48. Lets see who has done his homework? Da li smo radili drugo vebanje, Anastasija? S: My book is on my chair. She answers the first question and then the next student answers, they have an established order. S: My watch is on my desk. Then the teacher asks somebody else to see if everybody is paying attention. T: Danice, what is the answer on the question number 4? She answers the question. In the class are two students who dont have books, one of them does not even have a notebook, but the other has a notebook and some crayons. The teacher has a lot of discipline problems with them. They sit in the back of the classroom and they do not participate in the activities, they just run around the classroom and tease each other and try to make their friends look at them and be in the center of the attention. S: We listen music on my CD player. Teacher immediately corrects him and says: We listen to music on my CD player. And then she translates that sentence into Serbian. The teacher than asks one student: What do you have in your bedroom? S: I have posters, carpet, a chair, desk, be, computer. All the students stand up when they are answering the questions. The teacher checked all homework and each student answered one question from the homework activity. The two students ( Danijel and Ljubia) again make a lot of noise. Danijel wants to participate in the class but Ljubia wont let him. The teacher approaches them and tries to calm them down. Then another student tells what she has in her bedroom. S: I have posters, clock, bed, desk. As they answer the questions they stand up. S: Nastavnice, Anastasija mi je uzela gumicu! T: U redu, smirite se malo.

The teacher again tries to calm down the two students in the back of the classroom. The activity of checking homework lasted 10 minutes. T: OK. Da vidimo gde se stvari nalaze u vasim sobama. The teacher draws a wardrobe and first she draws a ball inside the wardrobe. Then she asks: Where is the ball? They all answer: The ball is in the wardrobe. Then she draws a ball under the wardrobe and asks:Where is the ball now? They all answer: The ball is under the wardrobe. Then she draws a ball on the wardrobe and asks: And now? Where is the ball now? They all answer: The ball is on the wardrobe. T: Hajde, sada da vidimo gde sve moe da se nae lopta. Open your student book. Exercise 3. Then she turns on the CD player and the music starts. All students start to dance and jump from their chairs. The exercise is listened and repeated. T: Listen and look in your books and repeat. From the CD player: In, then students: In. The CD player:On, students repeat. Under- student repeat; next to- they repeat; in front of- they repeat; behind- they repeat; opposite- they repeat; between- they also repeat it. T: Lets listen one more time. T: And where is the ball now?

SS: The ball is in front of the table. T: Now look in your books, exercise 3b. Where is Edward? Da vidimo ruke. But the whole class answers: Between, then the teacher asks the same question and they look at the second picture. Another student answers: Edward is behind the CD player. They all raise their hands but they all speak at the same time. They cannot wait until the teacher chooses one of them. T: Where is Edward now? , they all look at the 3rd picture. S: Edward is a:pe zait. The teacher immediately corrects her. This activity lasted 15 minutes. The teacher again has some discipline problems, now with the whole class. She tells them that she would give them a test next class. She says that in order to scare them. Some of them are excited because of the test and some dont want it. T:Exercise number 4. Students now do the exercise and they make a lot noise but each student participates in the activity. Napiite kako treba. Imate 5 minuta. Teacher checks on all students. Some students try to cheat and they copy the answers from other students. In the middle of the exercise they ask the teacher about the test that she mentioned and she tells them that she was just joking. T: Jo malo pa idete na raspust, hajde sada da malo radimo. Teacher uses her hands to explain what is in front of and the student understands it. T: Zato ti ne pie? T: ta smo rekli da se radi kada se zaboravi sveska? SS: Piemo na listu. T: Sad u da ti dam jedan, pa da sledei put ponese. alim se. Students ask for their teachers help but indeed they do not need it. They are very independent. They only want the attention of their teacher. While checking the pairs, the teacher: There IS, no thereS ARE. Without are. During the activity I noticed that the boys use English much more than the girls. They dont use English only for the activity they use English to chat wit each other. The teacher is smiling all the time and she is very cheerful. T: Where is this? To je ispred prozora. Napiite to na engleskom. The boy who is copying from the board (because he has no book) asks the teacher to draw something more because he wants t color more. Homework is some exercise related to the prepositions, for students to practice prepositions and to understand them. Generally the class was not boring, the activities were very interesting and the teacher used a lot of examples to help them understand the meaning. She tried to demonstrate the meaning and she didnt translate it. The activities were not too difficult for their level. The interaction was teacher to students and also students to teacher.The only thing I didnt like is the interruptions f some students, who didnt want to participate in the class, so the teacher had to ca lm them down every two minutes. There were a lot of discipline problems. And the teacher also told me that the test is too difficult for them because they didnt learn that, but they did the test very good, most of them knew the correct answers. The class is very independent and very curious. Also, they liked the questionnaire very much and they wanted to read their answers. They like their teacher and she is very kind to them, she smiles all the time and tries to answer every question they have. I found the class very interesting and all the activities were very successful. Activities: Warm up- checking the homework Lead in- Question about their bedrooms. What furniture they have in their bedrooms. Presentation- the teacher drew a wardrobe and a ball in order to show them where the ball could be. Restricted practice- The activity Where is Edward? Free practice- The activity when the students went in front of the board and practiced prepositions. Wrap up- giving homework
