Introduction A form of additive manufacturing technology is called 3D printing, where a three

dimensional object is created by laying down successive layers of material. It is also known as rapid prototyping, a mechanized method whereby 3D objects are quickly made on a reasonably sized machine connected to a computer containing blueprints for the object. Nearly everyone find this 3D printing concept of custom manufacturing exciting. With the use of inkjet technology, this revolutionary method for creating 3D models saves time and cost by eliminating the need to design; print and glue together separate model parts. Now, in a single process using 3D printing we can create a complete model. Materials cartridges, translation of code into a visible pattern and flexibility of output are the basic principles. Machines that produce physical 3D models from digital data by printing layer by layer are known as 3D Printers. It can make physical models of objects either designed with a CAD program or scanned with a 3D Scanner. Varieties of industries such as jewelry, footwear, industrial design, architecture, engineering and construction, automotive, aerospace, dental and medical industries, education and consumer products use this product. Procedure: Standard operation procedure using 3D printer: 1) Operator panel function

i.

Read and respond to messages on the LCD display, press YES on NO to respond to blinking CONFIRM? Y/N choice on the display. Press MENU to display list of options.

ii.

Use Up and DOWN arrow buttons to scroll options and highlight choice, then press YES to select it. Press NO exit a menu.

2) Start Print Job

i.

Start Install a clean platform. Close front door. Press ONLINE. When display show PLATFORM EMPTY, PRESS YES. Make sure to check waste drawer and dispose of waste material if necessary.

ii. iii.

Close waste drawer. When display shows WAITING FOR JOB, submit print job (use InVision 3-D Printer Client Program). Print job start automatically.

iv. v. vi. vii.

Submit print job using InVision 3-D Printer Client Program Add material when display shows 10 supports or 10 parts. Add cartridges per slot. Start job printing.

viii. ix.

Press Pause and abort print job to stop the printing process in display menu. Repeat print job with press menu, scroll to highlight REPEAT PRINT and press YES. The system displays PLATFORM CLEAR. Press YES and the printer repeats the previous print job.

3) Remove Platform

i.

When display shows DONE: NOT PRINTING, lift opens the chamber access door. Unlatch the platform. Slide the platform out.

4) Shut Down

The Figure 5.1(a) was shown the prototyping product that produce from 3D printer. The white colour layer is the wax that has been used to support the model from

collapse. This wax will be move out by placing it into oven (about 60 C) to melt the wax. The finished product was shown in Figure 5.1(b). The time taken to produce this model is about 7 hours. Then the product will use as a model to produce the tooling for mass production.

Conclusion Large companies such as Converse or Alessi are widely using 3D printing to replace

some of their traditional manufacturing methods with cost savings of up to 70%. The speed of traditional methods compared to 3D printing is similar to comparing a horse carts to a sports cars top speed. They both take us to our destination but the journey time differs extremely. Since the classical manufacturing methods takes several days or even weeks (from prototype to end product) whereas the industrial 3D printers are able to manufacture most objects in a matter of hours, the classical manufacturing methods, are slowly becoming obsolete. Furthermore, compared to the traditional method, the result of the product by 3D-printing is more quality. Besides, 3D printers nozzle can build an infinite number of complex figures, being limited only by human imagination. This method gives them more durability and higher structural integrity. Thus, in conclusion, 3D-printing is such an impressive instrument that can provide us a lot of advantages.
