Students in all government, Catholic and independent schools were tested and all parents across
Australia will receive results in a common reporting format.
Your child’s report will show national information including how your child performed in relation to
other students in their particular year group, and in comparison to the national average score for
each of the Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and
Numeracy tests.
Teachers will be provided with a complete analysis of their students’ results and parents are invited
to contact their child’s teacher in order to discuss any aspect of the tests.

Design Your Future- An Experience in Human Movement
During 2009, Reece High School has been lucky enough to be given the opportunity to be involved in
a program; Design Your Future- An Experience in Human Movement. This program, run by
Guaranteeing Futures in conjunction with the faculty of Human Movement at the University of
Tasmania, is aimed at providing students with an authentic Human Movement experience designed at
giving them the best possible chance of making an informed decision about a possible career as a
Health and Wellbeing Teaching. The program has only been offered to three schools state-wide.
Following an extensive selection process, the successful grade ten students were: Jamie Hughes,
Bradie Leonard, Kim Richards, Marc Simmonds and Zara Stokes. Each of these students was
partnered with a HWB teacher from a feeder primary school where they would spend 8 to 10
negotiated days to give them the best experience of what a career in this area would be like. These
students have also been supported by current 4th year Human Movement student, Mr Jade Hughes, in
a mentoring role.
At the culmination of this process, the students will be involved in an overnight visit to the University
of Tasmania Launceston Campus. During this visit they will tour the facilities, visit and be involved in
classes and talk with university students about their experiences.
A big thank you must go to primary school mentor teachers Mr Adam Lane, Mr David Carter, Mrs
Anne Aird and Mr Kris Von Schill for the time, effort and support in providing an authentic
experience for our students. Also to Mr Martin Stalker, from Guaranteeing Futures, for the co-
ordination of this program.
Students will present a Photostory of their experience to Grade 9 students with a view that this
program will be offered at Reece High School next year, giving our current grade 9’s the opportunity
to be involved in the unique structure. Students will be given an assessment of their experience
which will provide an ideal reflection of their practice.

sold out.
