Rev. Eugene Collins Sr.

is the Senior Pastor of Historic Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church, 172 Smith Street, Charleston, South Carolina where Bishop Samuel Richard Higgins pastored from 1928-1931 with a congregation of 110 members. Rev. Collins has provided over 19 years of faithful and visionary leadership in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. Collins answered the call of God on his life to preach the uncompromising Good News, love God's people, and serve all humanity. His devotion, dedication, and determination to serve are strengthen by his faith in God and the fact that he has been called, anointed and appointed by God to serve this present age.

Rev. Collins is a native of Camden, South Carolina. He was reared in Kershaw County. He graduated in 1966 from Jackson High School, Camden, South Carolina. He is a 1978 graduate of Baptist College at Charleston (now Charleston Southern University), North Charleston, South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. His Master of Divinity degree was earned at Erskine Theological Seminary, Due West, South Carolina. Rev. Collins also holds an Associate Degree from Midlands Technical College (Police Administration), Columbia, South Carolina and an Associate Degree from the Community College of the Air Force (Security Administration), North Charleston, South Carolina. He is a retired Senior Agent with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and a retired Military Police Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force (Active & Reserve Forces). During his active duty years, Rev. Collins was station at Osan Air Base, Republic of South Korea, Grand Folks Air Force Base, Grand Folks, North Dakota and Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of South Vietnam. His reserve duty time was served at Charleston Air Force Base (now Joint Base Charleston), North Charleston, South Carolina with deployments to Little Rock, Arkansas, Fort Hood, Texas, Rhein-Main Air Base, Germany, and call

ups for Desert Storm/Desert Shield, Operation Endure Freedom and 911 Terrorist Attack on the World Trade Center (9/11/01), New Your City, New York.

He was licensed to preach April 27, 1994 at Emanuel A.M.E. Church, West of the Ashley, Charleston, South Carolina under the dynamic leadership of the Reverend Randolph Miller. Prior to his present pastorate, he served as pastor of Trinity A.M.E. Church, Round O, South Carolina, Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Dorchester, South Carolina and St. Paul A.M.E. Church, (Plantersville Community), Georgetown, SC. At each charge that Rev. Collins pastored, the congregations grew spiritually, numerically, as well as financially. With the help of God, and the people he serves, they were able to accomplished great things for the Kingdom of God. With his rich and diverse professional background in law enforcement, community and military assignments, he has received academic, professional and community awards and honors. A leader is defined as someone who leads. Rev. Collins has left each charge that he has pastored better spiritually, numerically and financially than when he arrived there. His leadership has continued to progress in an upward manner during his tenure at Shiloh. His arrival at Shiloh A.M.E. Church on November 12, 2010 marked the beginning of revitalization in the life and works of the church. His first year at Shiloh has been highlighted by exceptional spiritual, numerical, and financial growth.

Tarpley had his trial sermon Jul. 2013 - Third Quarterly Church Conference, Rev. Collins, Sr. proposed that the church consider moving. Nov. 2013 - We held a church conference. The new date will be December 1, 2013.

Called to serve at various levels of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Collins is the past Christian Education Director for the SC Annual Conference and a past member of the Seventh Episcopal District Board of Examiners. He also serves on the Executive Committee for the Bold and Beautiful Beaufort District under the progressive leadership of Presiding Elder Joseph Darby. Rev. Collins serves on the district Finance Committee, Committee on Itinerant Orders and he is the Vice-Chair of the district Church Growth Committee. He also serves as the

Convenor for the Charleston Community of the Beaufort District Church Communities. His newest ministries includes the Food Pantry Minstry.

In 1982, he married Elizan Washington Collins. She is an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Associate Minister at Shiloh A.M.E.as well as a Church School and Bible Study Teacher and New Members Class Coordinator. She is the founder of the Family Ties Fellowship Group. It is a group that is dedicated to the mental, emotional and spiritual growth of women. She is also a Stephen Minister at Trident Hospital, North Charleston, South Carolina. They have three children: two daughters: Dr. Jeannie Collins, and Kimberly E. Collins and one son, Eugene Jr. who is the proud father of our two grandsons, Jayden Omari Collins and Braelyn Jeremiah Collins. Rev. Collins is a very devoted husband, father, pastor, and community leader.
