1.

Scope This specification encompasses the design, fabrication and supply of one .Expansion Tank, complete with al1 necessary components (including supports insulation and connections) as specified herein and o n the attached Data Sheet SK 1-1423-~-~6.

2 .

Genoral The Expansion Tank shall be a vertical, cylindrical pressure vessel, with torispherical heads, and is based o n the "ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, UnPired Pressure Vesselsn. Section 8 Notwithstanding this, the Contractor shall ensure that the supplied Expansion Tank, complies with al1 the applicable Dutoh Codes and Practices (stoomwezen).

Construction

The tank shall be of a n al1 welded construction i n W of $he ASME Code. Tank wal1 accordance with Part U thickness shall be calculated using the formulae from paragraph UG-27 of the ASME Code, with a joint efficiency o f not less thar 0.7 for al1 welds. The tliickness of the heads shall be calculated usilig the formulae from paragrapli UA-4 of Appendix I of the ASME Code. For design calculations the maximum allowable stress values in tension for materials specified shall be for a metal temperature range of - 2 0 O ~to +650~. The expansion tank is subject to al1 regulations required by thc Dutch Stoomwezen Authorities. This involves the submission of detailed drawings and design calculations, prior to fabrication to the' local office of this Authority. It should be noted that mil1 certificates wil1 be required for al1 rnaterials, also welder certificates are required lor approval. Contractor shall be responsible for compliance with al1 aspects of procedure and requirements of the Dutch Stoomwezen Authority.

Before flood coating, the priming coat shall be dry and substantially free Irom solvents. Dust and other contaminants shall be removed. Al1 welds shall be completely covered wit11 primer. Primed areas showing sags, runs and drips shall be cleaned off and primed again.

A second flood coat of enamel with impregnated


outer-wrap pulled on. The glass fibre reinforcement and the outerwrap shall be spiral wrapped with overlap nog less than 20 mm.; they shall be smooth and $ ' r e e from wrinkles and fully bonded to the ename l . Particular attention shall be paid to good bond and adequate film thickness at welds. The coating and wrapping shall be given,a full coat ~f weather resistant whitewash.

Lines shall not be insulated until testing has been completed to the satisfaction of the Engineer. Al1 lines to be cleaned of grease, dirt, rust and scale. Carefui inspection to be carried out, before installations of insulation to verify that pipes, supports etc., in the trenches have been correctly installed and spaced.
