DATA ANALYSIS
5. Which test substances did not test positive for any of the organic compounds?
The diet soda ( unknown 2).
6. People with diabetes are instructed to avoid foods that are rich in carbohydrates How
could the observations in this investigation help you decide whether a food should be
served to a person with diabetes?
They should be avoiding foods that contain glucose or starch.
7. The lunch bad has a large, translucent spot on the bottom. What explanation can be made
for this occurrence?
Whatever was inside the lunch bag contained lipids.
8. Did any of the food samples that taste sweet test negative for sugar? Explain why this
might happen.
The soda, this might happen because their chemical chain is too long, or the carbonation effects.

9. What conclusion can be made if a positive test was the result for any organic molecules
for the water sample?
The positive test shows that inside whatever liquid or substance an specific organic compound was
present.
10. Are proteins present in fruits, vegetables and cereals? Design a simple experiment to find
out.
That would most likely depend on what kind of fruit, vegetable, and cereal it was.
Simple Experiment : Choose 2 kinds of fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Then use Biurets solution to
test for the presence of proteins for each sample of fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Thus, you could
come to the conclusion of if proteins are present in fruits, vegetables, and cereals.
