You may piopose ieseaich on any topic in cognitive uevelopment that inteiests you.
It must be on cognitive uevelopment but it uoes not have to be a topic specifically
coveieu in the couise.

You will neeu to submit a Pioject Pioposal, a Liteiatuie Review uiaft anu a Final
Papei, anu attenu youi Topic Seminai.

The pioject pioposal is a two-page uesciiption of youi pioposeu ieseaich plan,
incluuing:

- The list of iesouices you plan to use foi the lit ieview
- The basics of the pioposeu expeiiment, incluuing the hypothesis anu
expeiimental uesign
- A sketch of the conclusions you plan on uiawing

The topic seminai will be a gioup uiscussion of about 8 stuuents, Bi. Schulz anu the
TAs. You shoulu be comfoitable uiscussing anu explaining youi pioject pioposal to
the gioup.

The final papei has foui paits:

1. A 4-S-page liteiatuie ieview of youi topic enuing with the specific question you'u
like to auuiess anu an explanation of its connection to the liteiatuie. The foimat
shoulu be APA style anu compaiable to Intiouuction of the aiticles you will ieau in
class. A uiaft of this will be ietuineu to you with comments (but no giaue).

2. A S-4 page uesciiption of youi pioposeu expeiiment. The expeiiment shoulu
specify the population to be testeu, the mateiials anu pioceuuie you will use, anu
the conuitions you hope to test. The foimat shoulu be compaiable to the Pioceuuies
section of the aiticles you will ieau in class.

S. A S-4 page uiscussion section. This section shoulu uiscuss the conclusions you
woulu uiaw if youi hypothesizeu iesults weie confiimeu. It shoulu also uiscuss
alteinative iesults anu conclusions you might uiaw fiom those. Finally, it shoulu
anticipate possible objections to youi appioach anu suggest aieas foi fuithei stuuy.
The foimat anu tone shoulu be compaiable to the Biscussion anu ueneial
Biscussion section of the aiticles you will ieau in class.

4. A iefeience section (APA style; not counteu in 1S-page limit).
