Lab Exercises: 1. Write an e-mail to the student Evaluation Division stating that you have not received your semester Mark Sheet. In the e-mail use the Following features: a. Mark the e-mail to different recipients. b. Mark a Blind Carbon copy to yourself.

2. Change Reminder Options using the preference Group and see the effect in your email settings.

3. Make an appointment for Project Weekly Meetings and make it reoccur every Friday morning at 10 a.m.

The appointment can be made reoccur by pressing the recurrence tab and choose the recurrence pattern for the requirement.

4. Write an e-mail inviting your friends to your birthday party. Make your own signature and add it to the e-mail message. Add a word attachment which gives them the venue route.

The address word file is attached using attach option.

5. Use an Outlook feature to send out a default message when you go on personal vacations/holidays. Click on the File tab in the upper left Select Automatic Replies (Out of Office) Select Send automatic replies. If you want, select the only send during this time range check box to schedule when your out of office are active. If you do not specify a start and end time, auto-replies will be sent until you select the Do not send automatic replies check box. This lets you set up your Out of Office replies in advance of your actual absence.

6. Suppose one of your colleagues named Vikas is sending across a large number of e-mails which you want to delete automatically. Please use outlook features to configure your account to achieve this functionality.

7. Suppose you have been getting a lot of junk e-mails that have filled your mailbox, how can you permanently get rid of these junk mails?

Empty the Junk E-mail Folder Before you empty the folder, you might want to review messages, to ensure that no messages you want to keep were mistakenly labeled as junk. To empty the Junk E-mail folder, do the following: a. In Mail, in the Navigation Pane, click the Junk E-mail folder. b. On the Folder tab, in the Clean Up group, click Empty Folder.

To permanently delete individual messages from the Junk E-mail folder without emptying it, select the message, and then press SHIFT+DELETE.

8. Out of the junk e-mail folder, there are some messages from your friend arti which were marked into junk mail folders. You dont want her e-mails to be marked as junk in future.

9. Create a rule which allows all high priority mails from your professor to an important folder unless subject says Unimportant and then flag these mails for follow up.

In the rule column select the option from specified person and move it to a specified folder. Then we can flag using flag option.

The flag option can be given as follows.

10. How can you setup an alert on the desktop to notify whenever an e-mail arrives in your inbox? The information displayed in a Desktop Alert varies depending on the item that you receive in your Inbox. E-mail message: The alert displays the name of the sender, the subject, and the first two lines of the message. A Desktop Alert does not display the contents of an encrypted or digitally signed message. To view the message, you must open it.

a. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options, and then click Advanced E-mail Options.

b. Under when new items arrive in my Inbox, clear the Display a New Mail Desktop Alert (default Inbox only) check box. Turn off alerts from a Desktop Alert a. When a Desktop Alert appears, click the down arrow on the alert. b. On the Desktop Alert menu, click Disable New Mail Desktop Alert.

Click to open the Desktop Alert menu. Click to turn off Desktop Alerts.

Notice also that you can do other things from the Desktop Alerts menu, such as open, flag, or delete the new message, mark the message as read, or open the Desktop Alert Settings dialog box, where you can specify how long the Desktop Alert should remain visible on the screen and how transparent it should be.
