You may need to restore the PTCL BIB Unit to its factory defaults if the configuration is changed or you lose the ability to enter the PTCL BIB Unit via the web interface or following a software upgrade or you lose the ability to enter the PTCL BIBUnit.Toreset thePTCLBIBUnit, simply pressthe resetbutton formore than 8 seconds. The PTCL BIB Unit will be resetto its factorydefaults. The reboot process will take about 30 seconds andthePTCLBIBUnitwillbecomeoperationalagain. 5

Installing your PTCL Business In a Box (BiB) Unit

LocateanoptimumlocationforthePTCLBIBUnit. ForconnectionstotheEthernetandDSLinterfaces,refertotheQuickStartGuide. Connect the Power Adapter. Depending upon the type of network, you may want to put the powersupplyonanuninterruptiblesupply.UseonlythepoweradaptersuppliedwiththePTCL BIB Unit. A different adapter may damage the product. Warranty shall be lost in case the damageisduetouseofpoweradapterotherthantheonesuppliedbyPTCL.

InstallingUSBDriver(optional)
You must install the USB driver before you can use the PTCL BIB Unit via an USB connection. Please follow the steps below (may vary for each computer) to complete the USB driver installation on a Windows2000/XPoperatingsystem.

After connecting the PTCL BIB Unit to computer, the system will detect the new hardware and showtheFoundNewHardwareWizardwindow.SelectYes,thistimeonlyandthenclickNext.

Insert the USB driver CDROM into computers CDROM drive. Select Install the software automatically(Recommended)andthenclickNext.

ConfiguringTCP/IP
This section will help you to establish a connection between a PC and the PTCL BIB Unit. Each computer that will be part of your network needs to communicate with the PTCL BIB Unit. To do this,youmayneedtoconfigureeachPCsnetworksettingstoautomaticallyobtainanIPaddress. This configuration assumes you have retained the default interface for Windows XP. If you are runningtheClassicinterface,pleasefollowtheinstructionsforWindowsXP.

SelectStart>Settings>ControlPanel. DoubleclickNetworkandDialUpConnections.

Doubleclick the Local Area Connection appropriate for your Ethernet adapter. ClickProperties. TheLocalAreaPropertieswindowisdisplayed. EnsuretheboxnexttoInternetProtocol(TCP/IP)isselected. Click to highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. TheInternetProtocol(TCP/IP)Propertieswindowisdisplayed. Select Obtain an IP address automatically if you are connecting the PTCL BIB Unit to the PC via Ethernet. Otherwise, select Use the following IP address and specify an IP address within the subnet such as 192.168.1.5 (assuming the IP address of the PTCL BIB Unit is 192.168.1.1) if you are connectingthePTCLBIBUnittothePCviaUSB. This section guides you through configuring your PTCL BIB Unit. You should have your computers configuredforDHCPmodeandhaveproxiesdisabledonyourbrowser.Ifyoudonotgetthepageas shown below, you may need to delete your temporary Internet files by flushing the cached web pages. FollowtheproceduresbelowtologintoyourPTCLBIBUnit.

Setting up secured IP-Sec connection


PTCL BIB unit also supports IPSec VPN connectivity. A usual VPN setup is based on the following scenario VPN setup requires a defined Password to be shared between the two parties.
