FOUNDERS DAY 2013

2014 PI KAPP EVENTS

Save the date for next years Homecoming

Alumni flooded the streets of Champaign once again on Saturday, October 26, for Homecoming weekend! Pi Kappa Phi brothers past and present gathered at the chapter house before the football game for tailgating. Unfortunately, the game didnt match the fun had at the chapter house as the Illini were stomped by Michigan State. Pi Kapps continued the camaraderie at the chapter house after the game where a brief meeting and pass the gavel session was held. Thank you to the undergrads for hosting the alumni on Homecoming weekend. Mark your calendars for Homecoming 2014 on Saturday, October 25, when the Illini take on Minnesota. We hope to see you there! n

Twelve Pi Kapps attended the annual Founders Day event in Chicago: John Hankus, Tim Quirsfeld, Nick Stoczanyn, Tony Cutinello, Tommy Carrato, William Kasper, Ed Jimenez, Jeff Grossich, Reid Bruggeman, Pat Schuster, Brian Durbin and Dan Perlin.

The Alumni Chapters annual tradition continued with our annual meeting and observation of Founders Day. Twelve Upsilon alumni joined us at Rockwood Place in Chicago, Illinois for an afternoon of celebration and brotherhood. Founders Day is a good chance for us Pi Kapps to relax, have some food, and to catch up, said Tim Lamkin (Y1017), It was good to see everyone.

The Founders Day Annual Meeting is one of four events sponsored by the Pi Kappa Phi Upsilon Alumni Chapter each year. Next years annual meeting will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will be an alumni chapter election year, so dont forget to put it on your calendar right away! Please contact the board if youre interested in running for a position. Wed love to see you there! n

Volunteers needed for 3rd Push Pins

On Saturday, April 5th, Pi Kapp alumni and actives will once again descend on Chicagos Seven Ten Lounge for an afternoon of bowling and charity. The annual Push Pins has become our most successful event and we hope to see you there! Last year, we raised more than $3,500 through raffles, split-the-pot and entry fees. To hit that mark this year, we are looking for volunteers to join the Push Pins committee. As a committee member, you will have an opportunity to help plan the third annual event, develop exciting raffles and help us beat our record-setting numbers from last year! If youd like to volunteer, please contact Kevin Spitz at kspitz2@gmail.com

A growing footprint in Illinois

The undergraduate chapter remains very active on campus and has celebrated some very exciting milestones in the second half of 2013, including:
Initiating 19 new members into the Upsilon Chapter. The Rho class now includes Upsilons with initiation numbers up to 1236. Supporting Push America by raising nearly $6,560 this year. Logging more than 500 volunteer hours as a Chapter. Fulfilling the commitment to the Pi Kappa Phi brotherhood by supporting the initiation of the Iota Rho Chapter at Western Illinois University, one of Pi Kappa Phis newest Chapters.
