How to use your InventoryLoader Template

Step 1 Print this page. Step 2 Refer to the "Data Definitions" tab so you can familiari e yourself with the acceptable values that can be entered into your template. !e recommend printing the Data Definitions sheet so you can refer to it as you complete your template. !e"ve also provided the following guidelines regarding whether or not each field is re#uired$ The column headers in yellow are required. To have your product upload properly% you must complete all re#uired fields. If you are not providing data for a particular field% leave that field blan& 'do not fill it with ()* or something similar+. The column headers in orange are desired. Desired columns give customers the basic information they need to ma&e an informed purchasing decision. It is highly recommended that you fill in all desired cells. (ot providing a desired value may result in poor product descriptions% and)or ma&e your product hard to find. ,or e-ample% a product can e-ist in the catalog% but cannot be offered for sale without a price or #uantity% in which case the product would not surface on the web site. The column headers in white are optional. .ptional columns may or may not apply to your product% or may reference information that is useful% but not critical% when offering a product for sale. !e encourage you to fill out all optional cells that apply to your products. In some cases% fields we have labeled "optional" may in fact be crucial to your business.

Step 3 /lic& on the "InventoryLoader Template" tab below to view the template with which you will create an inventory file. The column headers in yellow are re#uired 'headers in orange are desired% but not re#uired+. To have your product upload properly% you must complete all re#uired fields. If you find it helpful% feel free to modify formatting such as color% font% and borders. Step 4 If you have data stored in another format% such as with different field names in a different order% you can use the import button on the *ma on.co.u& toolbar to easily import them into this template. Headers that are e-actly the same will be matched up automatically regardless of where they appear in the imported file% and you will be given an opportunity to manually match up headers that are not e-actly the same.

Step 5 0any of the fields have drop1down list bo-es with lists of valid values from which to select. However% these drop1downs do not enforce the lists2 you can type in any value. If the value you enter is not valid for that field% it will cause a validation warning when you validate your data. These dropdowns are fully useable by your choice of &eyboard or mouse% or both. To make a dropdown disappear, press Es ape !press Es ape a"ain to make it reappear#$

Step 6 !hen *ma on.co.u& updates any lists of valid values% data validation rules% or e-planatory te-t for the data validation cell comments% you can get the changes without downloading a new template. 3imply clic& the "4pdate Template" button on the *ma on.co.u& toolbar. 5ou will need Internet access for the update to wor&. !hen done% you should see the new valid values in the appropriate drop1downs% and any new data validation rules will be applied the ne-t time you validate your data. Step 7 4pload your file by clic&ing the "4pload file" button on the *ma on.co.u& toolbar. 6efore uploading% it will validate the data. *ny items that fail validation will be given a red border and an e-planatory cell comment. 5ou can read the cell comment by selecting the cell. !hen validation is complete% you can choose to upload whether or not validation was successful2 however% your upload may be re7ected due to data errors. *ny errors in the upload will be reported to you in the processing report. 5ou can also run validation independently% without uploading% by clic&ing the "8alidate" button on the *ma on.co.u& toolbar. 0a&ing any change to a cell will automatically remove that cell"s red border and cell comment. (ote$ !e recommend adding 9: 1 9; or fewer products for testing purposes. *fter a complete successful upload 'where all items uploaded were activated+% you can continue to upload the rest of your Inventory.

How to complete your InventoryLoader template
