Flexible Pipe Systems

Technip is the world leader in the design and manufacture of flexible pipe. With manufacturing units located in France, Brazil and Malaysia, the Group is the leader in pro iding flexible pipe systems for oil and gas field de elopments. Technip is the most experienced pro ider of integrated flexible pipe solutions and offers a broad range of field!pro en products and ser ices. Thermoplastic sheaths ensure lea"proofness and significantly reduce heat loss, pro iding the best solution for corrosion resistance and for high temperature hydrocarbons. #elically wound steel wires gi e the structure an excellent bending performance, allowing for flexibility during installation and operation. The combination of plastic and steel layers can be easily adapted to the di erse re$uirements of subsea de elopments. Moreo er, flexible pipe can be easily retrie ed in order to be re!used on another field de elopment %particularly in Brazil&, or in case of decommissioning %in the British sector of the 'orth (ea&.

Integrated Production Bundle

Technip has de eloped the )ntegrated *roduction Bundle %)*B&, an inno ati e and proprietary technology. The )*B allows for high!le el flow assurance of hydrocarbon fluids in difficult conditions % iscous oil, deepwater, pressure constraints etc.& from well heads to surface treatment units. The )*B is a flexible production riser including thermal insulation layers, additional hoses for gas lift or other ser ices, acti e heating through electric cables and fluid temperature monitoring with optical fibres. The )*B technology was first and successfully deployed on the +alia field, offshore ,ngola, for Total, at a water depth between -,.// and -,0//m. First oil of the +alia F*(1 occurred in +ecember .//2. )*Bs were subse$uently deployed in the *azflor field, again for Total and had their first application offshore Brazil in ./--.

R&D
Technip pioneered flexible pipe technology in the early -34/5s and has consistently pro ided clients with e er 6higher le els of reliability and $uality, e en in the world5s harshest and deepest offshore en ironments. Technip is acti ely engaged in maintaining its technological leadership through research and de elopment units dedicated to each of the primary product areas. )n total, approximately .0/!7// expert engineers are employed in the dedicated (ubsea 89+ units. The primary focus areas of 89+ are Flexible *ipe Technology, 8eeled 8igid *ipe Technology, :mbilical Technology and +eepwater 8iser (ystems. ;ach unit is organised as a series of core discipline teams which allows for identification of synergies and technology transfer between the arious units. 89+ units ha e played a "ey role in many of Technip5s successes in recent years, for example the )*B, ;lectrically #eated *ipe in *ipe and Free (tanding 8isers on the *+;T and <ascade and <hinoo" *ro=ects. , number of exciting new initiati es are currently in arious phases of de elopment for continuous roll out to pro=ects following a rigorous gate re iew process.

Riser Integrity Managment (RIM)

'ew field disco eries located in challenging en ironments ha e pushed the boundaries of oil and gas production. 1perators must put increased focus on their assets throughout the life of the field. )n an industry going towards greater challenges and increased water depths, the monitoring of riser operational data has become a "ey parameter to ensure both optimal production and the safety of personnel, e$uipment and en ironment. To meet this mar"et need Technip has signed a global cooperation agreement with (chlumberger to =ointly de elop subsea integrity and sur eillance solutions for flexible pipe.
