Process Advisor Overview

The Process guide can lead the user through each step in the simulation process.
Process Guide leads users through the Mechanica process and workflow.

Loads Manager Dialog Box LectureNotes Process Guide From the time the model is taken from Pro/ENGINEER Standard mode into Mechanica, the user goes through several steps before analyzing the model. Material properties have to be assigned, and loads and constraints have to be created and so on. If you are a beginning user, refer to the process guide to lead you through each of the required steps.

Modeling Phase: Guides you through assigning materials, defining constraints, and assigning loads. Analysis Phase: Leads the user through the creation of an analysis. Results Phase: Opens the Results window so the user can define new results windows for completed analyses.

Best Practices For complex applications, expert users can enhance the Process Guide by creating unique templates that capture a specific series of modeling and analysis activities and instruct users in how to perform those activities to a given standard. Templates in Process guide are in XML format so creating a new template requires knowledge of XML. The existing templates that come with Pro/MECHANICA are for static, modal, and buckling analyses. Procedure: Process Advisor Overview

Scenario
Use the process guide to define material properties, loads, constraints, and static analyses. battery battery_bracket.prt

Task 1. Use the process guide.

1. Click Applications > Mechanica.

2. Click Help > Process Guide. 3. Accept the default session name of Project1 and change the process template to staticAnalysisNative.xml. 4. Click OK.

5. At this point, the process guide will appear. Every entity will be in its own category. When you click an item it will have some instructions with hyperlinks. For instance clicking the assign hyperlink under materials will bring up the material assignment dialog box.

6. Most of the windows displayed in the process advisor have been seen at some point before. The new ones are the Load Manager and Constraint Manager, which appear when clicking the hyperlinks in the loads and constraints sections.

7. After you complete each task in the process guide, the box next to that section will have a check mark. Go through all the steps and make use of the hyperlinks. The location and magnitude of constraints and loads are not important. Users can use their discretion. When all elements are complete, all the boxes in the process guide will be selected as shown. 8. New users seeking to create their first analysis can be directed to the process guide to take them through the essential steps.

9. Return to the Standard Pro/ENGINEER mode by clicking Applications > Standard. 10. Click Save from the main toolbar and click OK to save the model. 11. Click File > Close Window from the main menu. 12. Click File > Erase > Not Displayed > OK to erase the model from memory. This completes the procedure.
