Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope that everyone is returning with a sense of renewal, after a restful and relaxing holiday with family and friends. As we approach the half-way point of the school year, Id like to wish all of our students, their families, and friends continued success in 2014! School Council Update: The students, staff, and School Council members would like to thank all of our friends and family members who made our Holiday Family Fun Night a great success! Our next School Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 6:00pm in the learning common. All are welcome to attend! Kindergarten Pre-Registration: Its that time of year when many parents are interested in pre-registering their children for Kindergarten for September, 2014. The on-line registration link for NEW students only will be available in January, 2014, and can be accessed by visiting www.ucdsb.on.ca (Student Registration Icon). We will also be hosting a Kindergarten Registration Day for 2014-2015 on Tuesday, February 4th, at the school. During our Kindergarten Registration Day, parents/guardians will be able to register their child, take a guided tour of the school, which will include a look-in on our kindergarten program, and ask any questions that they may have. Please be aware that the following documentation is mandatory, before the start of school in the fall: 1) proof of age (e.g. birth or baptismal certificate), 2) proof of immunization. Cinderella Jr. BIB-BI-DI-Bob-BI-DI. BIB-BI-DI-BOB-BI-DI. BIB-BI-DI-BOB-BI-DI-BOO! Yes it is official, Viscount Alexander is putting on another wonderful theatre production: CINDERELLA JUNIOR! Auditions will begin in the new year, and the anticipated performance dates will be in early May. Stay tuned, and good luck everyone! Safe Arrival Procedures: Safe arrival procedures are a legislated requirement for schools in Ontario. We recognize that it is the responsibility of principals, office staff and parents to work diligently every day to ensure the safety of our students. To this end we would like to remind parents/ guardians to notify the school at 613-932-4131 if: 1. 2. 3. your child is going to be late or absent; alternative arrangements have been made for your child at the end of the day, i.e. he/she is being picked up instead of taking the bus; your child is going to be picked up by another party.

For those students who are bused, please review STEO procedures below: Remember that you are responsible for your childs safety and conduct prior to boarding the bus and following drop -off at a designated stop. This includes walking or driving your child to and from the bus stop. In the case of a JK -SK student, or in a special situation that has been approved by the school, STEO, and bus operator, a trusted responsible person must accompany your child to and from the bus stop. If no one meets the child at the bus stop, drivers are directed to take the child back to school or to the proper authorities. It is a parental responsibility to ensure that children arrive home safely from the bus stop. We thank you for your commitment to student safety in Upper Canada. CCVS Open House: CCVS will be holding an open house on Thursday, January 30th for students in grade 6 and their families.
