Celtic Cross 2009

CopyrightRuthPerry2009

I will share this cross pattern over the next three days, ending on Easter Sunday. Begin with one shuttle wound with the thread of your choice CTM do not cut the thread from the ball. The thread I used in this sample is actually a Venus size 20 crochet yarn which is about the same as thread size 5, actually fairly large thread. What can I say, I love the color. I will probably make one in a smaller thread soon. The Celtic Knot in the center is the same as one in my Celtic Tatting Knots & Patterns book, and the same as Snippette the Snail, and the Celtic Knot Owl patterns. Begin with a Picot by tying a knot in the thread between the shuttle and the ball of thread and then make the first ds a picots distance from the knot. Or begin on a paper clip to leave a small loop of thread to join to later. Chain 20 20 20 20 Weave the Celtic Knot, and then join to the picot at the beginning of the chain. Start at the thread ends that are attached to the shuttle and ball of thread. Notice how there are two loops of chain, one on top of the other. Next the chain goes under the first chain section.
