Retro Fit
A herringbone tweed jacket revealing a camisole with lace edging p a i red with a graphic print skirt, classic black clutch, and sexy round-toed shoes.
As I ip thro u gh the pages of E ll e, Harper s Ba z a a r, and Vogue, I am blown away by all the stunning retro fall fashions. Clothing and accessories are more rened, with rich details and classic styling that provide an overall polished feeling. The new styles remind me how fashion always repeats itself in one form or another. Som etimes the re sult is qu i rky, if not a bit fri gh ten i n g. But in this case, the resurgen ce of cl a ssic fashions from the 1940s and 1950s is more than welcome. Clothing is tted and tailored but, thankfully, not skin tight. Women are encouraged to mix and match fabrics that have stri k i n gly different tex tu res. In our outt, the heavy tweed jacket is sof ten ed by the del i c a te lace camisole pee king out underneath, and the look is balanced by the fun gra ph i c - print skirt rem i n i s cent of 1950s fabrics. Little pink bows on the trim of the jacket add a pret ty, feminine detail to the outt, and the black clutch (perhaps larger than those from dec ades past) and 1940s-derived round-toed pumps add a to u ch of old-sch ool glamour. Perhaps this outts most obvious nod to the past is the brooch, the fall seasons Ice Girl jacket, Vol. 1 camisole, BP h o t test accessory. Flip open the pages of any fashion magazine and skirt, and Franco Sarto shoes from you are su re to see brooches worn one or several at a time. This beaded vers i on is simple to make and can be worn dre s s ed-up or Nordstrom. Etienne Aigner clutch from Foleys. p a red-down. It is the perfect nal em bell i s h m ent to such an en s emble, and we a ring it will make any elegant lady stand out from the crowd.
