Fleischmanns Factoid
Back in the day, Fleischmanns boasted a far greater number of hotels and guest houses than we have today. The 1904 Ulster & Delaware Rail Road guide lists 54 establishments guests would reach from the Fleischmanns Depot. Rooms were available for over 1500 visitors. The accommodations ranged from simple rooms in a farmhouse to the opulence of hotels such as The Hotel Switzerland and the Hotel Washington. All that remains of the Washington today are the gate posts, still on Main Street, at the intersection with Brush Ridge Road.
Pumpkin Fest in Fleischmanns on October 12th Our pumpkins are growing and have really benefited from the almost daily rain of the last few weeks. Happily all of the seedlings and mini gourd seeds planted in May are thriving and we should see a very good crop of carving and eating pumpkins as well as decorative gourds. On Saturday, October 12 th , Fleischmanns First will hold a pick your own pumpkin at the patch, location to be disclosed later on, and will sponsor pumpkin decorating activities at the Gazebo in cooperation with the Catskill Artisans Group. In addition, we will have a make your own scarecrow center. We welcome donations of used jeans, flannel shirts, straw and burlap. We will be collecting on Saturdays, August 3rd ad September 1, at our regularly scheduled FF monthly meetings at La Cabana. Please join us on October 12th, Fleischmanns History Day.more information to come!
Dear Fleischmanns Community, We were well represented in the Arkville Day Parade last Saturday. The Maple Princesses, Fleischmanns Fire Department, and several tractors were part of a wonderful parade and fair. It is great to see Fleischmanns supporting its neighbors this way. Keep up the good work. Hope you all are enjoying summer. Sincerely, Todd Pascarella, Mayor
