Including breaking clods and to fill up back of abutments depressions and ruts with an initial lead up to 50 m and initial lift up to 1.5 m making bunds at top as directed dressing complete. (For petty emergent
works).

For Item No. 1 to 3 and 6 to 8, Cost should be evaluated considering 100 m3 borrow pit earth = 115 m3 of embankment earth.

N.B.: 1. This type of Earth work should be done in rural roads at inaccessible remote areas and the height of embankment should not normally exceed 2.0 m.

considered if necessary with specific permission from Engineerin-Charge.

bank for future consolidation settlement @ 17% of designed height except sandy soil.

Earth work in embankment to correct profile in any kind of earth obtained from land owned / arranged by the Contractor as per desired formation level with earth obtained from land owned or arranged by the Department depositing in layers of 250 mm thickness Including breaking clods, dressing etc. complete as per specification, drawing and direction of Engineer-In-Charge.
N.B. To arrive at the rate for land owned / arranged by the Contractor, add Rs. 20.00/ m3 extra over corresponding items of earthwork for the lands owned/arranged by the Department. This is applicable for all items of Earth work where land is owned and arranged by Contractor

Compacted Earth Work Earthwork in road embankment in ordinary soil to correct profile as per designed formation level with earth obtained from land owned /arranged by the Department, depositing in layers of 250 mm thickness including breaking clods ,dressing and compacting by power roller (not at OMC ) etc. complete as per specification, drawing and direction of Engineer-in-charge. (Payment shall be made in m3 on finished work on the basis of pre-work and post-work level section measurements. Rates to be evaluated considering 100 m3 of borrow pit earth = 115 m3 of embankment earth = 92 m3 of compacted earth. The rate is only for Roller Compaction, which includes hire charges of Roller, fuel and crews etc. for which deduction from the contractor will be made.) (a) In ordinary soil. In Item No. 8 & 9, the rate is only for roller compaction. This rate is inclusive of cost of labour for dressing, levelling etc. For earth works from borrow pit please refer earlier Items. Note: To arrive at the rate for land owned / arranged by the contractor add Rs. 20.00 per m3 extra over rate of E/W for land owned / arranged by the Department & for royalty charge on earth @ Rs. 13.25/m3 as per Govt. notification which will be paid on production of necessary documents in support of

Earthwork in road embankment and construction of sub-grade in all sorts of soil at different chainage by obtaining earth from road side borrow pits and throwing the same in not more than 250 mm.(loose) thick layers and compaction by power roller, each layer of soil up to 450 mm below the subgrade level at O.M.C to 95 % Proctor density and top 450 mm up to the sub-grade level at O.M.C to 97% Proctor density including breaking all clods thoroughly, watering, dressing, cambering, etc. filling depression, making sufficient number of benches on existing embankment, bailing out water, dressing side slopes and crest to proper profile in accordance with the procedure of work as detailed in specification including stripping off the grass-sods, weeds etc. including making proper arrangement for quality control work up to a depth of 150 mm. rolling the original ground, including the hire charge of roller, fuel and crew, etc for which necessary deduction from the contractor shall be made (if Departmental machinery be used) and as per direction of the Engineer-incharge .

Compacted Earthwork by Mechanical means Earthwork in embankment to correct profile with approved materials / soil obtained from borrow pit, depositing in layers, spreading to required slope and compacting the same to thickness not more than 200 mm at OMC to at least 97% of maximum dry density by vibratory roller (or static roller not less than 8-10 T capacity) as per the direction of the Engineer-in-Charge. Cost is inclusive of all labours, loading and unloading charges, hire charges of machinery e.g., hydraulic excavator, tipper, dozer, motor grader, water tanker, vibratory roller, crews, etc. with initial lead of 1.0 Km and all lifts. Cost of soil is to be included if the Departmental land is not available with necessary carriage beyond 1.0 Km., if required. Please refer remarks of Item No. 8 for cost of private land. Construction of road embankment with fly ash conforming to IRC: SP: 58 with initial lead of 1Km obtaining from local coal or lignite burning thermal plant as waste materials, spread and compacted in layer of 200 mm thickness each at OMC, to at least 95% of maximum dry density and all as specified in IRC: SP: 58 and as per approved drawings. Note: The earth cover on sides and intermediate layers of earth sandwithching the flyash has not been included in this analysis. The same are required to be provided as per m3 100.60 100.70
The item requires specific approval of the concerned Superintending Engineer before inclusion in the estimate and tender.

Supplying, testing and installation of 2.0 m wide Woven Jute Geotextile for strengthening of subgrades, having minimum tensile strength of 25 KN/m with a porometry range of 200 to 400 micron, duly secured to sub-grade by u-shaped M.S. staples (11 gauge) at an interval of 750 mm or as per direction of Engineer-in-Charge. The jute fabric should be laid with an overlap of 150 mm cross-wise and 300 mm longitudinally as per direction of the Engineer-in-Charge.
