3 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE FUEL AND THE BOILER
3.1 FUEL CHARACTERISTICS
-Wood pellets are a compound composed of various types of wood pressed with mechanical procedures in
compliance with environmental protection regulations.

This is the only fuel foreseen for this type of boiler.

Boiler heat output and efficiency may vary according to the type and quality of wood pellets used.

In order to work properly, the boiler should be used with the following type of pellet:
- 6-7 mm
-maximum length. 30 mm
-max. content of: humidity 8 9%
- The boiler is equipped with a pellet container tank having the capacity shown in the characteristics table.

The hatch to open for filling up is at the top.
- it must be possible to open the hatch lid at all times for filling up with pellets.

Operation using traditional wood is not possible.
3.2 PELLET STORAGE
! Keep the pellets in a dry place, not too cold.
We suggest keeping a few bags of pellets in the same room as the boiler or in an adjacent room provided
both the temperature and humidity levels are acceptable.
Damp and/or cold pellets (5c) will not burn so well and consequently the heat output will be less. It also
means more cleaning of the brazier (unburnt material) and hearth.
! Use care in storing and handling bags of pellets Avoid breaking them, forming sawdust.

If sawdust gets into the boiler's pellet container, it could block the pellet feeding system.

4 INSTALLATION

4.1 HANDLING AND PRELIMINARY BOILER INSTALLATION PHASES

During handling make sure the boiler is not unbalanced.
During handling which must be performed in total safety, make sure that the forklift is of a capacity
exceeding the weight of the appliance to be lifted, violent jerks and brusque movements must be avoided.

The responsibility for works carried out in the space of location is, and remains, the full responsibility of the
user.

The installer, before starting the assembly phase, must comply with the information shown above.
Furthermore:
- Do not make electrical connections using temporary or non-insulated cables;
- Verify the earthing efficiency of the electrical system;
- Leave the technical space accessible for eventual maintenance.

Should the boiler be installed on a wooden floor, we recommend insulating the supporting base beforehand.

4.2 PLACEMENT

We recommend unpacking or removing packaging from the boiler only once it has reached its place of
destination.
ALL PACKING MATERIAL MUST BE KEPT away from children RISK OF SUFFOCATION WITH
BAGS, FILM, POLYSTYRENE, etc.

If the adjacent walls and/or floor are made of material not resistant to heat, a means of protection
must be obtain made of insulating material that is non-combustible.

The boiler must be kept at a minimum distance from the surrounding walls of at least 15 cm. Leave a
minimum space of 15 cm between the back of the boiler and the wall to allow good air circulation and
facilitate access for maintenance.

When the boiler has be positioned, it must be levelled using the adjustable feet.

If the smoke discharge path is such to render poor draught conditions (there are numerous
bends, insufficient discharge terminal, bottlenecks, etc) smoke expulsion may not be ideal. In this case the
boiler's operational parameters will have to be changed to adapt it to the smoke discharge system. This
operation may only be performed by a manufacturer authorised technician.

It is necessary to analyse the composition and structure of the room when the smoke outlet pipe
is installed through walls and roofs, in this way installation is done to standard and complies with safety
norms on fire prevention.

Make sure that the room where the boiler is located has enough air for combustion. We recommend
periodic servicing to make sure combustion air reaches the combustion chamber correctly.

004770690 022010 12/41

15cm
The appliance works at 230V-50Hz. Make sure that the electrical cable does not catch under the boiler, is
far from hot surfaces and does not touch any sharp surface that could cut it. If the boiler is overloaded
electrically, the working life of all the electric parts could be compromised.
Never cut off the mains from the boiler by removing the plug from the socket when the flame is lit; this could
prevent the boiler from working properly thereafter.

4.3 COMBUSTION AIR INTAKE

The air required for combustion, taken from the environment, must be regenerated by an aeration grille set
in the wall of the room in a position towards the outside: in this way excellent combustion is guaranteed
(therefore low pellet consumption).
We do not recommend taking air directly from outside through a pipe as this would invalidate combustion
efficiency The aeration hole must obviously be equipped with an aeration grille on the outside with a rain,
wind and insect protection system.
The hole can be drilled in a wall outside of the room housing the boiler.

It is forbidden to take combustion air from a garage, warehouses of combustible material or having
activities with fire hazard.
The outside combustion air intake hole must not the connected to the boiler by a pipe
If there are other heating appliances in the room, the combustion air intakes must ensure the required
volume of air for all the devices to work properly.

MINIMUM DISTANCES FOR POSITIONING
THE AERATION GRILLE:
See the table below for the correct and safe
positioning of the aeration grille. These are
minimum distances from any air spaces or
smoke discharge, which can vary the
configuration of air pressure; they must be
observed to avoid that, for example, opening a
window could suck out the outside air,
depriving the boiler of it.

The aeration grille must be
placed at least:

1 m under doors, windows
1 m horizontally away from smoke discharges, air spaces,
0.3 m over etc.
2 m away from smoke outlet
4.4 SMOKE DISCHARGE SYSTEM
The smoke output system from the boiler works due to the effect of the vacuum created in the combustion
chamber and the slight pressure in the smoke outlet pipe It is very important than the smoke output system
is hermetically sealed.
15cm

004770690 022010 13/41

Smoke discharge must take place in conformity with the norms in
force.
The smoke channel MUST NOT BE connected:
- to a flue used by other heat generators (boilers, stoves,
fireplaces, etc.);
- to air extraction systems (hoods, vents, etc) even if
ducted.

Smoke must be discharged from the roof.

When connecting the boiler to a flue, make sure together with the
authorised installer that there is not even the slightest crack in the
flue. If there is a crack, it is obligatory to duct the flue using new
material for it to work correctly.

The smoke discharge system must be effectively earthed
according to the standards and legal requirements in force; (earthing
is mandatory by law). This earth connection must be independent
from that the device's earth connection.

If the smoke channel passes through a false ceiling it must be
sufficiently insulated using non-combustible diaphragms in insulating
material.

The installation of draught valves is prohibited.

The smoke discharge flue must be realised in compliance with
norms both concerning the sizes and the materials used to build it.
DETERIORATING flues made with unsuitable materials (such as
asbestos cement, galvanised steel, etc.with a rough or porous internal
surface) are illegal and can jeopardise the correct operation of the
boiler.

Smoke discharge using a flue already in use is possible as long as the following
rules are observed:
- check the status of maintenance of the flue; if the case, we recommend
having it ducted
- If the flue has a larger section than necessary, it must be "ducted"
- Avoid contact with flammable materials (timber beams) which must, in any
case, be insulated with a fire-retardant material

The smoke conduit pipe diameter is 80mm.

004770690 022010 14/41

When using a join

between boiler and flue or smoke
conduit, it is mandatory to use a
T-shape joint with inspection cap
directly, and using this T-shape
joint must allow ash to be
collected if deposited inside the
pipe, together with periodic flue
cleaning, without having to
dismantle pipes
Smoke is under slight pressure
inside the smoke conduit,
therefore it is obligatory to check
that the cap for cleaning the
smoke discharge system is
perfectly sealed and remains so after each inspection. Always remember to return it to its original position and
check the condition of the sheathing The connection between the pipes must be done according to the
manufacturer's instructions.
For smoke discharge, we recommend connection directly to the boiler using a horizontal section measuring
longer than 1 m and not exceeding 5 m.
! We do not recommend the use of horizontal sections and if this is necessary, always make sure that the pipe does
not have reverse gradients but at least a 5% gradient; horizontal sections must not in any case exceed 6 m in length.
4.5 CONNECTION TO THE MAINS

The appliances require a connection to the mains Our heating boilers are equipped with a suitable power
supply cable. Should you need to replace the power supply cable (e.g., if damaged), please contact one of
our authorised technicians.

Before connection to the mains, make sure that:
the electric system's characteristics are such as to satisfy that shown on the plate;
the system is equipped with effective earthing according to the legal norms and directives in force;
(earthing is obligatory by law);
in no point may the power supply cable reach a temperature of 80C above room temperature. If direct
connection to the mains is desired, a bipolar switch must be installed. The socket or bipolar switch can be
easily reached when the device has been installed;
should use of the appliance be interrupted for an extended amount of time, remove the plug or the
connection switch.
In the case of fault or malfunction, remove the plug or the connection switch and contact our authorised
assistance.

Electrical connection

The boiler must be connected to the electric system and to the room thermostat through the following
cables:

Electric power supply

3x1.5mm
2
cable Brown (phase)
Yellow-green, earthing
Blue (N)
Pump power supply

2x1.5mm
2
cable Grey
Black
Room thermostat 2x1.0mm
2
cable

004770690 022010 15/41

If the power supply cable is damaged it must be replaced by the technical assistance service or a
specialised technician in order to prevent all risks.

Electric connection must be easily accessible even after the boiler has been installed.

004770690 022010 16/41

5 START-UP

When the boiler is switched on for the first time, a small part of the paint coating the boiler
evaporates (*due to stabilisation of the painting process) thus making ventilation necessary in the room
to evacuate vapours: it is sufficient to aerate the room.

NOTE: Before switch-on, make sure that the pellet tank is full

- DO NOT CONSIDER USING the boiler even if only one of the components of the boiler's safety device
is faulty, incorrectly calibrated or not working;
- Do not carry out changes of any kind or for any purpose other than those allowed or instructed by the
manufacturer;
- Always use original spare parts: Do not wait until the components are worn by use before replacing
them. Changing a worn component before it breaks makes it easier to prevent accidents that could
otherwise lead to serious injury or damage to property;
- Check for any condensation: this is an indication of possible infiltrations of water or smoke cooling. We
recommend finding the cause(s) so the stove works correctly.

The location where the boiler will be positioned, therefore defined as the place of installation, MUST be prepared
according to local, national and European regulations. The boiler is a heating appliance and during operation
some of its outside surfaces will reach high temperatures or will be particularly hot. Furthermore, this
PELLETS HOLDER

004770690 022010 17/41

appliance was designed to burn pressed wood fuel.

Therefore, during use we recommend the greatest caution, in particular:

- do not approach or touch the glass door, RISK OF BURNS
- do not approach or touch the smoke discharge, RISK OF BURNS
- do not carry out any type of cleaning
- do not open the door as the boiler only works correctly in hermetic conditions
- do not unload ash
- stop children and animals from getting near

The boiler must be used to heat water at a temperature that does not exceed boiling point.

The boiler works with the combustion chamber under vacuum so make sure the door to the
combustion chamber is airtight.

Moreover, for regular use of the pellet boiler:
- only use fuel conform to manufacturer's instructions
- follow the maintenance programme
- clean the boiler weekly (only when the boiler and ash are cold)
do not use the boiler in the event of malfunctions or anomalies, strange noises and/or suspected
breakages
do not throw water onto the boiler, not even to put out the fire on the grate
do not switch off the boiler by detaching connection to the mains (but by using the switch-off button
located on the keypad).
- do not use the boiler as a support of any kind or anchor; in particular, leave the tank loading door
clear.
- do not use wood or carbon for the boiler, only pellets with the characteristics summaries here
below:
- do not use the boiler as an incinerator
- carry out all operations in maximum safety

004770690 022010 18/41

6 ORDINARY BOILER MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
6.1 USER
Before starting any ordinary maintenance, therefore cleaning, the following precautions must be taken:
cut off the mains before performing any interventions.
before beginning work on the boiler, make sure that it has cooled and the ashes are cold

Using a "drum" type vacuum cleaner can facilitate cleaning, the drum should be fitted with a filter (separator) to
stop sucked dust from returning to the environment.

Every time you fill the tank with pellets in the boiler or at least once a week
it is necessary to press the lever 4-5 times to clean the exchanger of
ashes.

Vacuum and clean the hearth carefully as well as the part beneath it every week

Vacuum the ashes from the combustion chamber every week

Once every month, remove the door from the chamber to clean the
ashes and vacuum thoroughly.

This is the hearth where the pellets burn It should be vacuumed after each
use (when the boiler is cold). We recommend removing it every week and
checking that there is not too much ash on its base. Then replace the
hearth, making sure it is correctly positioned, to guarantee safe operation of
the pellet boiler.

004770690 022010 19/41

6.2 MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
The following points should be inspected to make sure that the boiler works to its best yield and supplies
maximum heat
When the boiler and ash are cold

INTERNAL EXCHANGER (annual frequency (fig. 11);

Using a small brush, clean the upper part and the walls of the
internal exchanger. After cleaning it thoroughly tale a "drum" type
vacuum cleaner and vacuum it well.

SMOKE OUTPUT MOTOR FAN MECHANISM (inspected and cleaned each year)

Cleaning the internal smoke extraction motor fan must be performed by inserting the draught flexible pipe
so that all remaining ash is sucked out and to allow proper operation.

Remove the 4 (four) screws shown above (1,2,3 and 4) and clean the smoke fan blades thoroughly with a
brush or paintbrush.

- END OF SEASON GENERAL CLEANING

When no longer using the boiler at the end of the season, disconnect it electrically for greater protection. t is
very important to clean and check the boiler as described in the points above.

The sheath installed in the door, which is secured using a high temperature fastener (heat resistant silicon),
may become detached after prolonged use; to repair it fix the back part of the chord using a high
temperature fastener. This is important for maintaining a hermetic closure.

- SMOKE CONDUIT - FLUE (this must be cleaned every six months of fire or six tons of pellet):

The smoke conduit, flue and windproof chimney top must be checked and cleaned every year, preferably at

004770690 022010 20/41

the start of the season. We recommend contacting an authorised technician for professional cleaning.

7.2 WINTER/SUMMER OPERATION

WINTER OPERATION (O)
The temperature of the boiler is kept within a range of values identified by the parameters Boiler Temperature
Set (P32) and Boiler water temperature delta (P31). Pellet combustion ceases when the temperature of the
water in the boiler exceeds the value set on parameter P32, and resumes if the temperature drops below the
temperature identified by the difference (P32-P31), irrespective of the status of the energy demand contact.
The operation of the water circulation pump is affected by the temperature of the water in the boiler and by the
status of the contact

SUMMER OPERATION (I)
The status of the energy demand contact affects both the temperature of the water in the boiler as well as the
functioning of the circulation pump.
If the contact is open, the boiler cools without maintaining the temperature inside it. When the contact is closed,
the boiler performs the switch-on cycle and operates until the temperature set has been reached.
If the contact is closed, the regulation shall guarantee a temperature within the temperature range P32 and P32-
P31, as during winter operation; when the contact opens, the boiler begins the shut-off cycle.
7.3 ELECTRONIC BOARD OPERATION

To start the boiler, push the ON key ;; after a few seconds the control unit puts the boiler into calibration
status, displaying the words " FAST LOAD" .
After this phase which lasts about 18", appear the words " LOAD PELL" in which the hopper loads the pellets
and the resistance switches on (on the display you can see switch on through the aforementioned leds).

When the temperature is sufficiently high (after about 15 minutes), reached with a determined coefficient (about
3 C per minute), the electronic control unit considers switch on fulfilled and passes onto the next phase of flame
stabilisation, then on the display will appear the words " FIRE ON" .

Once the stabilisation phase has ended (the duration of which is about 3), the control unit goes into working
mode, displaying the selected heating power (changeable using keys 4 and 5 ) and the boiler
temperature.

Working power can be selected from 1 to 5, it is maintained if the temperature in the *boiler is less than the
boiler set point
Otherwise the power is modulated to minimum.

*In fact the boiler is adjusted by the temperature in the boiler water. Once the desired temperature is reached
(set manually - see "changing room temperature setting") the boiler adjusts its operation to minimum and it is not
possible to change the heating power in this case.

If the pellets do not light, the boiler shall repeat switch on once more;any failure to switch on shall be signalled
by an alarm.
Aspirator and fan speed and switch on time through resistance are parameters settable exclusively by an
authorised technician.

When electricity is restored after it has been cut off for a certain time, the control unit shall expel the residual
smoke, increasing aspirator speed and displaying the words " COOL FIRE" . After cooling, the ignition phase is
resumed.

004770690 022010 24/41

7.9 APPEARANCE OF WORDING ON THE DISPLAY

Upper display:
ON the boiler is on
OFF the boiler is off

Lower display:
Shows the time

The words Fast load mean that the hopper is
dosing the pellets at a higher speed than normal in
the combustion chamber thus preparing the boiler
for switch on.
Before switching the boiler on the hopper must
dispense enough pellets into the hearth in the
combustion chamber for the boiler to light.

004770690 022010 28/41

The words Load pelle mean that the hopper is
dispensing the pellets into the combustion
chamber.

The words Fire on mean that the boiler has lit
and is controlling its functions.
The Fire on phase lasts between 1 and 5
minutes. During this phase, the boiler uses
sensors controlled by its electronics to check that
the discharge gas temperature increases by at
least 3C in 1 minute.
Upper display:
The small flashing circle to the left of the display
(moving up and down) signals that the timer
(time/thermostat) is activated.

Lower display:
Shows the time The words ten on mean that the
boiler timer is working.

The words ten off mean that the boiler timer is
off.

The words Type 0 mean that the boiler has
been preset for a certain type of pellet.
The boiler must be preset for 4 different types of
pellet (Type 0; Type 1; Type 2; Type 3).

The words test fire mean that the electronics
are checking discharge gas temperature before
the boiler enters a working function.

004770690 022010 29/41

Upper display:
The boiler's momentary level of power is indicated
on the left of the upper display, whereas the preset
level of power is indicated on the right of the upper
display.
Lower display:
The lower display indicates the water temperature
in the boiler.
The words Cool gas mean that the boiler was
turned off. At this point the fan revolves at full
speed to expel the gases from the boiler and
ensure that all the pellets remaining in the
combustion chamber burn, in this way the boiler is
ready to be lit again.
The words Regu gas mean that the discharge
gas temperature is too high (usually when the
boiler is dirty) and the boiler starts to modulate
(decrease) power automatically.

The words Cool flui mean that the boiler has
reached the preset water temperature.
The words Regu flui mean that the boiler starts
modulating power just before reached the set
temperature until the boiler switches off.
The words Alar gas mean that the discharge
gas temperature is too high (more than250C) and
the boiler automatically switches off.

Check that the boiler is clean of ashes.

004770690 022010 30/41

The words Alar pelle mean that there are no
more pellets in the tank.

The words Alar flui mean that the water
temperature in the boiler is too high (more than
90C).
When the water temperature in the boiler exceeds
90C, the thermal protection blocks the pellet
loader in the combustion chamber to prevent the
water from overheating further. The thermostat
must be reset (ref.5 page 9)
The words Alar fire mean that during the
normal boiler working phase an anomaly has
occurred.
At this point the boiler switches off automatically.
The words Alar ntc mean that there is an
anomaly in water probe operation.
The fan starts to revolve at full speed to expel the
discharge gases and to clear the combustion
chamber of residual pellets.
Call a technician!
The words Alar tc mean that there is an
anomaly in discharge gas probe operation.
The fan starts to revolve at full speed to expel the
discharge gases and to clear the combustion
chamber of residual pellets.
Call a technician!
The words Stop fire mean that the boiler is
switching off (usually after the cool flui function).

004770690 022010 31/41

The words Fire prot mean that the boiler's
safety system has taken all possible precautions
to prevent the boiler from overheating.
The words Cln fire mean that the boiler
combustion chamber's self-cleaning function has
started up.
