Here are a few details for our upcoming AWS CWI class. Class Instructor: Class Date: Reggie Thomson February 28 - March 4 (Yes, it includes all day Friday!) Class exam begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. The class exam takes between 3-5 hrs. It depends on how quickly you do exams. Dont plan on leaving class too early and get rushed on this exam! The exam will be graded before you leave class. AWS Exam Date: March 19 @ New Orleans or Houston Class Location: Daily Schedule: LaPlace Quality Inn (985) 652-5544 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Evening review sessions If possible, you should participate in the evening sessions. Those who are most successful, generally commit the whole week to getting ready for the big exam. Class Size: Hotel Lodgings: Enrollment is limited to 20 students. Rooms are available at the hotel. The cost for a room with two double beds or a single king is about $69/night (+ tax). If you lodge at the Quality Inn, you must make your own reservations. Call Quality Inn at (985)652-5544. When making your reservation, please mention that you are part of the MSTS class. Meals: AWS Application: AWS Info: There are numerous restaurants nearby. Your certification application must be sent to AWS by February 5. You can obtain an application at the AWS web-site. (see below) The AWS website offers some useful information (i.e. application form and required code books). Pre-Study:

You really need to do some reading and studying before the class. Spend time reading and studying the Welding Inspection Technology book. This will be an intense week, so any pre-study will make your life (and nerves!) a little easier. Youll also score higher on the AWS exam. Calculator (one big enough to fit your fingers!), pencils, Code Books, straight edge (triangles are great on a couple of charts) Dress is casual, but be sure to bring a sweater or jacket in case the meeting room is chilly. The class costs $900. Please bring check, cash or credit card to class. You do not need to send an early deposit. (We accept Visa and MasterCard; $30 surcharge for credit card payments.)
