1. Mark B.

Mark : Dear everyone. I wanted to let you all know that I am happy now. Candylion got hurt, and I needed to be with him. He told me to come and see him. He needed me. I have been trying to tell you all that I was going to jump. Jump down into Candyland like he told me. But it never seemed the right time until now. It's all good though. I can look after Candylion now, and you can all look after each other. Eve, you look after Alex now, he was my friend. The rings will bring us back together one day. Tell him to take care. Mum and dad, just be kind people. Thanks for letting me live by myself. I would never have got to live with Candylion if you hadn't let me. And Sophie. Be good to Michael. He's not really a shit, I suppose. I hope he looks after you like you deserve. Just remember that I will see you in Candyland one day, and remember, if we were words, we would rhyme. With all my love, Mark.

2. Sophie F.
Sophie : Mark spends a lot of time looking out of the window of the flat. What he sees down there, I don't know. All we see is the scum of the earth hanging around, doing what they do best. He'll stare at the view for hours. Occasionally, he makes notes in his precious book, but pretty much all of the time is spent starring and whispering to himself. His friend Alex pops round occasionally and they spend hours together, but they hardly ever speak and when they do, it seems to be in a language I don't get. They sign a lot, and giggle. I know that Mark has a crush on me, but I have to be gentle with him. He doesn't have a lot else in life, does he? After being abandoned.

3. Candylion B.
Puncte in plus pentru originalitate si idei bune.

4. Eve F.
Eve : Mark can only survive with the help of disability benefits, and whilst his flat is nowhere near perfect, it provides him with a real sense of home. A place where he belongs. He doesn't speak about mum and dad. To be fair he doesn't talk about much. I try to help him as much as I can, but it's not easy. "He doesn't look autistic is what I keep hearing, what does that actually mean? He gets about seventy quid a week. Disability living allowance they call that. Living!

5. Michael B.
Michael : So this is what my life tends to consist of. A desperate struggle to maintain a good relationship with my girlfriend who seems to have taken on the role of a social worker for that weird kid next door. Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for him. He's obviously not right, but that's not my fault is it? It's not Sophie's either. And he's creepy, he's always trying to get her on his side. Sophie's trouble is she's too nice. Leave it to the family, not that they seem to care. Well the sister pops around

occasionally, but we get the majority of it. He needs to be put away in my opinion. It's messing us up. It's a problem.

6. Mother + Father B. + F.
Father: If you haven't dealt with it, you can't comment. These bloody social workers sit in their offices reading the bloody Guardian and eating their brown rice and lentils and never have to deal with it... the counting! Always bloody counting. Mother: I blame him for it. There's nothing wrong with my little baby, he just needs love that's all. Father: She just let him get away with it. He needed discipline, a routine. Mother: He needed a cuddle. I know people think we've abandoned him, but it's not like that. They don't understand. It's not easy you know. I never used to be able to do anything without worrying about what he was up to in his room. Now at least I have a life.., and he's got his independence, and that's important isn't it? Father : You've got to be cruel to be kind. I know it's a clich, but clichs are based in truth aren't they? And we can't get help any more, financially. Mother : We do worry about him though.

7. Megan F.
Megan : He was always a bit odd at school. Kept himself to himself. Didn't want anyone to touch him... not that I ever wanted to touch him... not like that! Just if you squeezed past him in the classroom, he'd go apeshit. Like it hurt him or something. He seemed sweet enough, but you know... a bit weird. He used to get picked on a lot. The usual stuff, you know? Cruel names. We all joined in, didn't want to get singled out. I suppose as he got older, it will have stopped. I mean we all know better now don't we?

8. Doctor 1 + Doctor 2 B/F + B/F

Doctor 1: Obsessive-compulsive-disorder, OCD, is an anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable, unwanted thoughts and repetitive, ritualized behaviours you feel compelled to perform. Doctor 2: If you have OCD, you probably recognize that your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours are irrational, nut even so, you feel unable to resist them and break free.

Doctor 1: Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. Doctor 2: Asperger syndrome is a form of autism. People with Asperger syndrome are often of average or above average intelligence. They have fewer problems with speech but may still have difficulties with understanding and processing language.

9. Social Worker B/F

Social Worker: We encouraged Mark to get out and about on his own. To try to live life as normally as possible. There is a tendency to hide away from reality, to create a fantasy world in which you feel safe. Mark's moving out of home was the first step to self-sufficiency. His own peculiar fantasy world was left behind, and he has his own reality now.

10.

Alex B (Expresivitatea conteaza mult)

Alex: He needs help. Mother: We always did our best for him. Alex: Help him. Father: He just needed his independence. Alex: Help him. Sophie: Everyone has failed him, but maybe it was inevitable? We all have our own lives to lead. He's a damaged soul. Alex: Help him! (Pause.) Please.

11.

Carer B/F

Carer: There are two basic categories of communication in Autism. Intentional communication, where the sufferer sends a direct message to another person like a protest. Or a request. There is also pre-intentional communication, where the subject says or does things without the intention of affecting those around them. In Mark's case, the rings around the world provide him with comfort, and an explanation for those things he doesn't understand. In the case of a child, or young adult, the preintentional communication can be used to calm them down after a traumatic episode.

12.

Jade + Olive F + F

Jade: Oh he's a funny lad isn't he? Olive: He is; a funny lad. Jade: Needs to find himself a decent girl I reckon. Olive: She'd have to be a bit... funny though, to like him wouldn't she? Jade: He's not all there really, lovely lad. but not right in the head if you ask me. Olive: Not that we're being horrible. It's just not right that he's alone in there. Jade: Getting up to God knows what. Olive: With God knows who. (Enter Mark.) Mark: Hello. Jade: Hello love. Olive: How are you love? Mark: Fine thank you. Goodbye. (Mark exits.) Jade: See what I mean? Olive: Oddball. Jade: In a nice way of course. Olive: Oh yes, in a nice way.

Shopkeeper 1 si 2, Politician, Burglar 1 si 2, Bully 1 si 2, News Reporter.
