University of Cebu LM College of Allied Engineering Final Examination in Electrical Transmission & Distribution System Part-2 Case Study

y The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines is planning to have expansion on one of its existing substation in order to supply the increasing demand of electrical power in the city. Since this substation is projected to supply the south road project (SRP) where SM, Condominiums, Hospitals, Hotel and Resorts, etc. are expected to rise. In three (3) years, these establishments are expected to be 100% in operations. At present, the capacity of the existing substation is 100 MW at 80% capacity loading and it is forecasted that three (3) years from now the load will increase to 250%. The existing set-up of the substation is shown below. Both line 1 & 2 has maximum capacity of 350 MW. At present, the power transmitted from line to the substation is 100 MW. Line 1

A. Answer Briefly 1. Base on the existing set-up, where does the exceed power supply go and by how much? Assuming that the transformer is loaded at full-load. 2. Evaluate the current set-up of the substation, how would rate the reliability of power of the configuration? 3. If preventive maintenance of breaker is to be conducted one at a time, is power blackout experience by the consumers? Why? 4. Is it possible to shutdown either bus 1 or bus 2 without experiencing power interruption? Why? B. Assuming maintenance is highly needed for the breakers and buses in the system, construct a schedule program that would be implemented to address this concern and provided that there is no power interruption in order to maintain the reliability of power supply. C. In three (3) years, it is expected that each establishment the SM Mall, Condominiums, Hospitals, and the Hotel and Resorts, will have their own respective feeders. The percentage are as follows: SM Mall = 40% of the total load Condominiums = 10% of the total load Hospitals = 25% of the total load Hotels and Resorts = 25% of the total load
Note: The total load the existing are already considered.

Design a substation set-up that will supply this load requirement. Remember that the type of loads are highly critical especially the hospital.

Format: 1. The designed must be in Power Point Format. 2. The answer to the questions must be computerized. 2.1 Text: Calibri, Font size 11, Paper: Short Size.
