ABB holds a distinguished record of innovations in gas-insu-
lated switchgear (GIS) technology and our latest ELK-3 series
for 420 kV is designed to break several performance barriers.
The compactness of this GIS makes it ideal for installations
with constrained space requirements and comes with a vol-
ume that is more than 30 percent less than its predecessor.
The smaller footprint also reduces the amount of SF
6
gas re-
quired by 40 percent making it more environmentally friendly.
This GIS is fully assembled and tested in the factory and
shipped as one bay on a flat rack or low bed truck leading to
40 percent reduction in time for site work compared to tradi-
tional designs.
