Foundations of Faith New Evangelization Class Monday, January 6, 2014 7pm in Parish Life Center
As Catholics, we have received a baptismal calling to holiness and to evangelizationthat is, to spreading the Good News of Jesus. Some of us are called to help teach the faith, or to catechize those whove heard and accepted Gospel; but all of us are called to help propose--or re-propose--Christ to those we encounter on a daily basis. Living the Eucharist by Paulist Evangelization Ministries Lent 2014

Living the Eucharist is a parish renewal program that will be offered to all parishioners this Lent season. Small groups will gather weekly for 6 weeks during the Lenten season. There is something for adults, teens and families. The weekly gathering will be 90 minute session reflecting on the Sunday readings and other topics each week. This is our 3rd year in offering this program. If you have not joined a small Christian community before and would like to join, we welcome you to give it a try. Christ the King Early Learning Academy Update

We had a busy Advent & Christmas! Every day we were meeting in our lovely Learning Chapel to say the Pledge of Allegiance, our daily advent prayer and we also took turns sharing good deeds during the day. Classes have been making gingerbread churches, nativity scenes, and preparing for their Christmas programs. What has been most amazing is the way we have learned our prayers! We have been practicing being reverent in chapel, going to Mass, and learning prayers! We will continue with the Christmas season through the Epiphany. The Preschool Team

Mission Trip: A Call to Serve January 31st- February 15 2014

In Thanksgiving to Almighty God for 25 Years of Priesthood and Twelve Years as Pastor Christ the King Parish Fr. Peter will serve our brothers and sisters affected by the Typhoon and work with a medical team from the Diocese of Joliet Each week until Mission Philippines keep Fr. Year End Giving To Christ the King parish
Our last Sunday collection of the year will be Dec. 29th, 2013. However, you can still honor your 2013 stewardship pledges to Chris the King up to the last day of the year, Dec 31, 2013. All donations received through 11:59 pm on December 31 or postmarked, either by mail, hand-delivered or through the white mailbox at the front of the door of the parish office will be included in the 2-13 year. Ways you can Give: Gifts of Cash: You can make a cash gift by currency, credit card or credit. If you are issuing a check, the effective date of your contribution is the date it is hand-delivered or mailed. Gifts of Securities: stocks or other investments that have grown in value and that you have owned longer than one year can become a substantial gift with a low net cost to you. We have contracted with Guide Book Publishing to publish a Guide Book & Directory for our parish that will be updated and delivered directly to your homes annually. This book will be the Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Christ the King Parish. The book is being provided at no cost to the our parish. Local businesses are being solicited to advertise in the book. As Each One Has Received a Gift

As secretary to the pastor and the parish, I work alongside Fr. Peter and the staff in service of the parish family. Often I am the first person many encounter when they call or come to the rectory office. I make sure I am welcoming, knowledgeable, and helpful. I started working in the parish office almost eight years ago. Since then I have valued getting to know parishioners, enjoyed spending time with them, and felt gratitude for the opportunity to serve them. Whether assisting a family in planning a funeral Mass, filling Mass requests, or answering questions of a parent inquiring about a Baptism, I have been privileged to be a part of significant times in peoples lives. I came to Christ the King fourteen years ago when my family first joined the parish. My husband, Tony, and I valued the education our two sons received at Christ the King School. They went on to attend Montini Catholic High School before getting degrees at Elmhurst College and the University of Illinois. My Catholic faith has always been central to my life, and I love Christ the King Church. Last February, Tony and I celebrated our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, renewing our vows at morning Mass. When not at work, I have enjoyed singing in the choir, taking care of altar linens, and welcoming new parishioners at newcomer registration. I have also served as a Minister of Consolation and Extraordinary minister of the Eucharist. St. Peter says in his first letterAs each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of Gods very grace (1Peter 4:10). I like to think of myself as a friendly, outgoing, and helpful person qualities that have been gifts from God.
