The Stonewall Democrats is a prestigious group that promotes equality for all people. Being endorsed by this group will further help promote my core alues. !t is important for oters to know which candidates will treat e eryone equally regardless of race" gender of se#ual orientation. Stonewall is a ery well known and strong organi$ation in the democratic community" and an endorsement from Stonewall carries a lot of weight among Democrats. %inally" and on a more personal note" Stonewall is a great group to attend as a Democrat. The programs that Stonewall puts on are among the li eliest and most interesting. &a ing such informati e and entertaining programs is itally important for Democrats and ! am proud to be associated with such a great group. The first thing ! will do for +ounty +riminal +ourt , is utili$e a court coordinator which astonishingly is not something that is currently being done in +ounty +riminal +ourt ,. This will allow misdemeanor defendants to ha e time to be heard by the court instead of waiting all day with an attorney. Defendants" witnesses and 5urors will then be able to make proper work and childcare arrangements based on a schedule instead of putting their 5obs and child0care relationships in 5eopardy due to a slow mo ing and inefficient system. :tili$ing a court coordinator is basic" standard practice" absolutely necessary and adhered to in e ery other misdemeanor and felony court in Dallas +ounty. Dallas +ounty absolutely deser es better. !n addition" ! plan to immediately discontinue the current practice of requiring indigent defendants to pay a large portion of fines and court costs before they are allowed to enter their plea. Dallas +ounty has a collections department that is designed for the purpose of allowing low0income defendants to set up a payment plan so that they can make affordable payments during the duration of their probation" and ! plan to utili$e that system 5ust as e ery other court in Dallas +ounty does. ! will bring further change to +ounty +riminal +ourt , because ! ha e a strong focus on promoting accountability" rehabilitation" education" and compassion. <isdemeanor courts ery often ha e the ability to benefit all parties at the same time" restoring ictims" correcting and impro ing defendants" and protecting Dallas +ounty citi$ens. This staggering statistic hits close to home for me because ! was a high school dropout. Those around me refused to see me fail" and ! e entually earned my 4?D. <any dropouts don;t ha e the support structure necessary to reengage in education and
