1he Central 2overnment ormulated these rules under the 'nvironment @ProtectionA (ct! %D<J- 3nder section E o these rules it is reHuired that the operator or occupier o a acility dealing with haBardous waste ensures that the haBardous waste is packaged in a suita*le manner or storage and transport and the la*elling and packaging shall *e easily visi*le and *e a*le to withstand physical conditions and climatic actors- Packaging! la*elling and transport o haBardous wastes shall *e in accordance with the provision s o the rules issued *y the Central 2overnment under the 5otor #ehicles (ct! %D<<! and other guidelines issued rom time to time- Section D o these Rules also reHuires that in case o an accident during transportation o haBardous wastes! the operator or occupier o a acility shall immediately report to the State Pollution Control "oard in the prescri*ed orm1his statute applies on KSHIP as it involves handling @including storingA and transhipment o haBardous *ituminous materials during construction o the project roads3.1.; W)(/()9+ P4'0+*0)'.
