Summarized Requirements for Intact Stability Documentation

All items listed below are to be inlcuded in the intact stability documentation of cargo vessels. If the required information is not provided, the examination may be prolonged or may be refused without an entire examination of the document. This list is for general guidance only and does not absolve the client from the resonsibility to provide a manual which is acceptable to the National Administration and provides sufficient appropriate information and guidance for the safe operation of the vessel, taking into account the type of the vessel and its operational requirements. Limiting curve (diagram, table), range of drafts up to the minimum freeboard assigned, calculation to the weakest side. While GM limit curves for damage stability are valid for any trim inside the permitted range, GM limit curves for intact criteria and all KG limit curves must be given trim-dependent in steps of max. 0.5%Ls. Includung the following: Intact criteria Weather criterion (b>a, 80% freeboard, 16 heel) Results from damage stability calculation The applicable trim range of the curves is to be indicated in the diagram. Limit curves to be drawn over draft not displacement. Horizontal extention of GM limit curves for damage stability up to draft of minimum freeboard assigned (intact criteria to be calculated up to that draft) Unprotected openings Hydrostatic table, range of drafts up to the minimum freeboard assigned, if necessary for operational trim range in steps of max. 0.5%Ls. Statement, at which long. position the draft is measured. Cross curves, range of drafts up to the minimum freeboard assigned, if necessary for operational trim range in steps of max. 0.5%Ls. Please add a statement about the buoyant hull used: volumes above main deck, appendages and cut outs under water, shell factor or mean shell thickness. Downflooding angles for unprotected openings, range of drafts up to the minimum freeboard assigned, if necessary for operational trim range in steps of max. 0.5%Ls.

Requirement / Information to be included

Line of sight For GL ice class E1 to E4: Loading conditions only allowed for sailing in ice if drafts UIWL and LIWL are observed. Density of sea water for UIWL=1.0, for LIWL=1.025. For GL ice class E1 - E4: in case of loading conditions in ice and/or freezing conditions, level in ballast tanks must be below the water line if not equipped with means for deicing. If applicable: Ice accretion to be considered in loading conditions. If applicable: Timber deck cargo: 10% water in arrival condition to be considered.
