Denton County District Clerk E-filing Business Processes

Rejection Criteria Submissions will be rejected by the District Clerk for the following reasons:
Wrong jurisdiction Incorrect or missing fees Your document indicates a different county or the Denton County Clerk A hold is placed on the amount of funds based on your filing selection. If you had made an incorrect choice and the amount is actually higher, your submission will be rejected since the higher amount is not guaranteed. The document is illegible, not properly rotated

Poor quality of document Document not allowed to be e-filed

Statutes/rules prohibit the filing of the document. (Usually, discovery documents directed to case parties) Separate Any document requiring additional information to be submissions required added hearing dates and times, signatures must be submitted individually as a separate filing. The correct statutory fees are to be added by the filer and are subject to rejection. If you are unsure of the correct fees, please call the District Clerks office at 940-349-2200. When a submission with fees is made, a hold will be placed on the amount of funds needed for the transaction. Actual fee(s) is less: clerk will correct and accept Actual fee(s) is more: clerk will reject filing since the funds are not guaranteed. Issuance and County Service Fees (citations, notice, etc) Because of certain limitations, this office will not be able to process service copy charges and constable/sheriff service fees through the e-filing system at this time. Until a viable solution is achieved, requests for issuance which require service copies must be made in person or by mail. Please provide sufficient service copies and, if to be served by a Denton County Constable or Sheriff, the correct amount of fees. Issuance and service fees may be included in the same payment, payable to Denton County. Your documents will be held at the District Clerks office for pick-up, unless a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage is provided. Motions needing hearing dates: Submit motion by e-file When accepted, call court and coordinate hearing date and time E-file notice of hearing with date/time of hearing information. Agreed Motions and Orders: Submit motion and order as separate e-filings. Order will be printed by clerk, then rejected (see below Proposed Orders) After signed by the Court, the order will be faxed or emailed to you. Proposed Orders: Filings will be rejected with the reason: Rejected: Printed for submission to Court Once signed and received from Court, clerk will fax/email to counsel and/or litigants. ***** There is currently a Proposed Order feature being developed by TexFile which will enable the e-filing, e-signature by the Court and filing by the clerk of the electronically signed order.

Courtesy Copies: Judges may request paper courtesy copies of any papers filed electronically. Attorneys will be informed of any special requirements by the individual judges.
