Tagum City Musikahan Festival 2014 Tagum City: A Home of Music & Celebration Avenida Musika National Brass Band Competition
A music avenue cum competition where various marching brass bands all over the country either school based or community based who shall perform in strategic areas in three (3) contexts: 1. Marching Brass Band in Street Parade; 2. Symphonic Pieces in specified station; and 3. Band Showdown at the City Hall Main Ground.
OFFICIAL GUIDELINES AND MECHANICS: 1. The competition is open to any school-based or community-based brass bands in the country. 2. Competition shall be on March 6 & 7, 2014 Tagum City Assembly Point for the Parade: Rotary Park, Pioneer Avenue & Freedom Park, Tagum City 3. This shall be judged in three (3) contexts: a. Marching Parade @ Tagum Citys Main Streets March 7, 6 AM b. Symphonic Presentation @ the Gaisano Mall of Tagum, Atrium March 6, 2 PM c. Showdown @ the New City Hall Main Ground March 7, 2 PM 4. Requirements for participation on this competition are the following: a. Participants must be a Filipino citizen b. Number of participants 30 to 75 instrumentalists/players and 15 to 25 movers/majorettes or flag bearers c. Group must submit names of their alternate players/performers d. Props men are not included in counting the number the players/performers 5. No movers, majorettes and flag bearers will join the symphonic presentation. They will only be allowed during the marching parade and showdown. 6. Contest piece shall be provided by the organizer. 7. Time allotment provided per performance in accordance to its context: a. Marching brass band parade - 10 minutes (max.) b. Symphonic music performance - 10 mins (min.)/ 15 mins. (max.) i. 1 Contest piece ii. 1 Side piece (Personal Choice) c. Showdown performance - 10 mins. (min.)/ 15 mins. (max.) 8. In exceed of the time allotment given 2 points shall be deducted in excess of every minute from the judges score sheet. 9. An indicating mark or signs shall be given to the performing group for preparation and warning, identified as: Green Flag Start; Yellow Flag Last 5 Minutes Warning and Red Flag TIME IS UP/STOP. 10. Use of dangerous acts is strictly prohibited such as aerial stunts, harness props and flammable/combustible materials. 11. The official criteria for judging shall be based on the three (3) context of performance to determine the grand winners and each context shall be judged on the following basis: 12. The contingent may opt to have the alternate players for the symphonic music performance but the participants will not be below 30 and not exceed 75 persons. 13. There shall be one (1) set of judges to be assigned by the Executive Committee for all the three contexts. These Official Judges are well known for their achievement and stature in the field of music and performing arts preferably coming from the National Level. Their decision shall be based on the result of the competition and shall be final and irrevocable. 14. Prizes at stake - To Be Announced 15.
