FWD Tank (Operation)

In Normal Condition; Boost Pumps No.1 works to supply fuel to Engine # 2. The Pump passes the fuel through the Check Valve to the Main Fuel Line, which is divided into two direction; - One direct the fuel to the Engine# 2. - And the other one to the Fuel system direct to the Ejector through the Fuel Check Valve. Which is known as Motive Flow System.

FWD Tank (Operation)

The Motive System consists of Check Valve and Ejector Valve. The Ejector position under the Cell#1 of FWD Fuel Tank, which is operation on the Venturi Principle. The Cell#1 connected to the Ejector at the Low pressure point to suck the fuel from the Cells1,2&3 and send it to the Collector Cell#4. The Hollow Flapper Valve in Cells 2&3 allows fuel to flow to the Cell#1.

The Problem
The problem that we mean it, when by mistake installing the Motive Line

Check Valve in opposite way.

This case is could happen during

carrying the Check, which is include remove the motive line check valve, to clean the strainer and reinstalled. To install the Check Valve you must flow the instruction in AMM. But the main point to install it correctly;
The arrow on the Valve case should

direct to the Ejector. And the hinge in top position, with the mark that typed in the Valve case.

The Problem
When the Motive Line Check Valve

installed in opposite direction, it will prevent fuel to floe through the Ejector. Which stop fuel transfer from Cells 1,2 &3 to the Collector Cell#4. That leads the system to only use the Collector Cell to supply the RH Engine, and causes the system to issue a FWD FUEL LOW LEVEL Caution (Light), when the fuel level reach the Low Level Float Switch. Where the Fuel Indicator shows the correct quantity of the fuel. Then, Motive Line Check Valve should be reinstalled to right position.
The same for the AFT Tank.
