Greene St Baltimore, MD 21201 - 1595 Dear Members of the Search Committee: My name is Brad Boeddeker and I will soon be completing my bachelor's degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from North Dakota State University. I also have five years of military service with the United States Marine Corps and two years of experience in municipal law enforcement. I have always felt that serving others is one of the most important and rewarding goals that an individual can strive for. This is why I was very excited to learn of your open position for a Director of Security. With my strong background in physical security along with the ability to problem solve and communicate effectively, I would be a great asset to your organization by maintaining a safe and secure environment in order to allow staff to better serve your patients. I began my experience in security as a Basic Marine Security Guard in Kings Bay, Georgia, at a Naval Special Weapons storage facility. This afforded me the opportunity to learn the intricacies of physical security and how to negotiate the delicate balance of security and functionality. I was tasked with operating the Alarm Control Center ensuring that all personnel in the facility were authorized access, and that security alerts were addressed according to standard operating procedure. I was quickly promoted to Corporal of the Guard and became directly responsible for supervising every Marine at the facility within my chain of command. After two years at this position I received orders to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines at Twenty-nine Palms, California. I was assigned as a Mobile Assault Platoon, Section Leader responsible for leading Marines in combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I developed the ability make decisions quickly under extreme stress in order to successfully complete assigned missions. As a police officer I developed the desire to apply my skills and abilities in the medical field. I worked hand in hand with emergency medical responders on countless occasions, and provided direct support to hospital security staff to allow medical personnel to perform their jobs with reduced risk from uncooperative patients. I was regularly amazed by their ability to continually treat those in need, even when they were faced with potential bodily harm. I know through first hand experience the difficulty these individuals face on a daily basis and believe I can utilize my considerable experience to support them in their very important work. I also developed the ability to communicate effectively with individuals across many different cultural and socioeconomic

backgrounds. This allowed me to mediate disputes and difficult situations in a safe and productive manner, often times with mutually agreeable results. After two years as a police officer, I was recalled to active duty with the Marine Corps. I was an Assistant Team Leader on a Personal Security Detachment for a Major General while deployed again to Iraq. I was required to supervise Marines during combat operations to ensure the safe transportation of our Commanding Officer. I was able to use my organizational and communication skills to plan missions and coordinate with all of our friendly and adjacent units during security operations. I am very excited for the opportunity to continue my career in security with your organization. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. I can be reached at (701) 555-1234 or Brad.Boeddeker@my.ndsu.edu.

Respectfully, Brad Boeddeker
