A chemical company develops a new process that has a waste by-product.

Their internal studies show this by-product is carcinogenic. However, this by-product is not on a government list of banned chemicals because it is new.

In this case, an engineering ethic is involved. Engineering Ethics is the study of moral issues and decisions confronting individuals and organizations engaged in engineering. The field e amines and sets the obligations by engineers to society, to their clients, and to the profession. As a scholarly discipline, it is closely related to sub!ects such as the philosophy of science, the philosophy of engineering, and the ethics of technology. The study of related "uestions about moral ideals, character, policies and relationship of people and corporations are involved in technological activity. The scope of the engineering ethics are engineering as social e perimentation, the engineer responsibility for safety, responsibility to employees, rights of engineers, global issues, engineers and managers, consultants and headers, and moral reasoning and ethical theories. The interaction rules involved here are about law and moral. #aw is defined clearly as binding rules of conduct meant to enforce !ustice and prescribe duty or obligation, and derived largely from custom or formal enactment by a ruler or legislature. These laws carry with them the power and authority of the enactor, and associated penalties for failure or refusal to obey. #aw derives its legitimacy ultimately from universally accepted principles such as the essential !ustness of the rules, or the sovereign power of a parliament to enact them. To follow the laws of a society is to do legal things. An activity is illegal if it brea$s a law or does not follow the laws. %or e ample are legal driving age, traffic rules, and others. In this case, the activity of the company is legal. This is because the company is still followed the rules and did not brea$ it as the by-product produced is not on a government list of banned chemicals. &e t, it is about moral. 'oral is defines as differentiation of intentions, decisions, and actions between those that are (good( )or right* and those that are (bad( )or wrong*. The philosophy of morality is ethics. A moral code is a system of morality )according to a particular philosophy, religion, culture, and others.* and a moral is any one practice or teaching within a moral code. 'orality may also be specifically synonymous with (goodness( or (rightness.( Immorality is the active opposition to morality )i.e. opposition to that which is good or right*, while amorality is variously defined as an unawareness of, indifference toward, or disbelief in any set of moral standards or principles. +eing moral can best be described as being pure hearted, having chastity, having no se ual immorality, no drun$eness, being gentlemanly or womanly, being a good person, being good to others around you, having humility, going against what you $now is wrong, being courageous in the face of adversity, and being noble. In this case, the company,s activity is immoral. This is because they are realizing that their byproduct is carcinogenic which will affect the people and environment but they are still producing it. Their action is considering bad moral.
