Season of the Glorious Birth of Our Lord
The Pastoral Council at our Lady of Lebanon Parish organized the annual
fundraising Christmas Banquet on Saturday Dec 14, 2013.
We would like to thank the committee for the excellent organization.
Like every year we are humbled by the commitment and the efforts that
made this banquet a success. We thank with much appreciation all the
parishioners and friends who joined us, helped and supported with their
contribution their Church. It is always a delight to see all of your families
gathered joyfully in one place and under the banner of the Lord.
May the humble Christ who was born in a manger, bless your families and be
gracious to you all.
Thank you and
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Gospel (Matthew 1: 18-25)
Now the birth of Jesus the Messiah took
place in this way. When his mother Mary had
been engaged to Joseph, but before they
lived together, she was found to be with child
from the Holy Spirit. Her husband Joseph,
being a righteous man and unwilling to
expose her to public disgrace, planned to
dismiss her quietly. But just when he had
resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream and said,
Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to
take Mary as your wife, for the child
conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She
will bear a son, and you are to name him
Jesus, for he will save his people from their
sins. All this took place to fulfill what had
been spoken by the Lord through the
prophet: Look, the virgin shall conceive and
bear a son, and they shall name him
Emmanuel, which means, God is with us.
When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as
the angel of the Lord commanded him; he
took her as his wife, but had no marital
relations with her until she had borne a son;
and he named him Jesus.
This is the truth. Peace be with you.
A reading from the Letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians. (3: 1-13)
Yourblessings Father
Brothers and sisters,
This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles
for surely you have already heard of the commission of Gods grace that was given me for
you, and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few
words, a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of
Christ. In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has
now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: that is, the Gentiles have
become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ
Jesus through the gospel. Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of
Gods grace that was given me by the working of his power. Although I am the very least of
all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless
riches of Christ, and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages
in God who created all things; so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich
variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This
was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our
Lord, in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him. I
pray therefore that you may not lose heart over my sufferings for you; they are your glory.
Praise be to God always.

Meditation: "When Joseph awoke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded
him"Joseph of Nazareth obeyed the voice that he heard in his dream - immediately . His decisive action to
take Mary as his wife was full of faith. But how did he know that the voice was from Heaven? What made
him trust this voice? Not every dream is divine. How do we discern? We know that he was a "righteous"
man. This means that he was a prayerful man who had a deep relationship with God. He must have
learned that Charity is the heart of the Law and this is why he did not want to expose Mary to public
disgrace. His deep understanding goes beyond the legalities of the Law. He was ready to ignore the
tradition in order to be charitable to Mary. This alone is a sign of a deep spiritual life and a humble soul.
He knew the simple ways of the Lord from Scripture. His holy silence is a proof that he meditated the
Word of God. Through this meditation he must have learned how to discern the heavenly manifestations.
Unlike Zechariah, he obeyed immediately, no questions asked. This dream was an answer to his prayers.
His faithful response, was a step forward in his "sharing" in the mystery of the Incarnation. Today Joseph
is inviting us to go deeper in our relationship with God, to be silent and listen to God speak in our hearts
and guide us to fulfill our mission in life; otherwise we will miss the greatest call.
