Teacher will explain and discuss the topic planet earth, day and night on page no. 48 and following main concepts will be taught. Teacher will explain that our earth is a sphere and it is rotating or spinning round like a top on its axis. Teacher will explain that an axis is a straight line about which a body or geometric object rotates or may be conceived to rotate. Teacher will discuss North Pole, South Pole and equator of the earth. Teacher will explain that the part of earth facing the sun has day and the other part have the night. Teacher will explain that as the earth turns the part where day is gradually turns away and goes into dark shadows that we call night. Teacher will explain that earth takes twenty four hours to completely rotate on its axis. Teacher will explain that earth is slightly tilted that is why not all places have exactly twelve hours day and twelve hours night.
Written Task Students will attempt the provided worksheet and paste it in their notebook. Students will attempt the following question in their notebook. Q. In your own words, describe what causes day time and night time. Wrap up Following questions will be asked to know what students have learnt. Why all places do not have twelve hours of day and night? Is the sun or the earth moving during sunrise and sunset? What is the colour of the sky on a sunny day? Teacher will note down the responses of students on the writing board and discuss the answers with the class. Class Activity

Teacher will explain and discuss the topic sunrise and sunset on page no. 48, 49 and following main concepts will be taught. Teacher will explain that sun seems to rise in the east in the morning but it is actually earth moving. Teacher will explain that the sun appears to move because we are watching it from the spinning earth. Teacher will explain that shadows are long in the morning and evening because the sun is low in the sky at those times. Teacher will explain that shadows are shortest at midday because sun is at the highest in the sky. Teacher will explain why sky appears blue on a sunny day. Teacher will discuss that during sunrise and sunset the radiations of sun are reflected differently making sky appear red and yellow.
Written Task Students will attempt the following question in their notebook. Q. In your own words, describe why do we sometimes see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Wrap up Following questions will be asked to know what students have learnt. At what time of day shadows are longest? What is actually happening during a sunset? Teaching Learning Strategies Time Introduction 5mins To check the prior knowledge teacher will ask some questions e.g. Topic Objectives 1. What is the name of the President of Pakistan? 2. What is the name of the Prime Minister of Pakistan? Class Discussion Divide the class in pairs. Ask them to read the first passage of the lesson. Ask the pairs to discuss the passage with each other. Ask 3/4 pairs to tell what they have discussed. Appreciate the pairs. Teacher will ask the students to calculate how old Pakistan is from 1947 to the current year. Ask the students to tell the official name of Pakistan. Tell the official name of Pakistan to the class i.e. Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
