Description: I had to create a full bleed event ad for a promotion fundraiser only using Microsoft Word and a scanner. Process: I started my process by first scanning in an image of ornaments, and then created a potential layout for my ad. I cropped the image of the ornaments to create perfect circles throughout the ad. I used a solid color background to create my full bleed. I also set some of the ornaments to hang off the page. I placed long, green rectangles on the page to mimic a present look. I placed my title within the ribbon to help make it stand out. I used different font colors to create contrast. By the end of the process, I was surprised to see how much one can actually do it Word.

Flier

Description: I was given the task to design a black and white flier to promote a graduate leadership conference. Process: My first step was to create several different sketches to decided which layout would look best. I then used my sketch as a guide to create my flier in Abode InDesign. I used repeating black bars to add repetition and contrast to my design. I created a natural diagonal line by cropping my picture and using an image where the models hand stretched upward. These two things helped to create a flow. I grouped text of related information together to have proximity. I made sure to align everything with something. I aligned my text to the left to help give it a more professional look. I left plenty of white space for easy viewing and kept my body copy small. For this assignment, I was given the logo, content and image to create my flier. Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic ier layout Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links intact Program/s Used: Abode InDeSign Julie Peterson Visual Media - - Section 5 October 05, 2013

Web Page

Description: For this project, I designed a web page to showcase my logo. Process: To design this particular web page, I used only TextWrangler. This process was a little intimidating at first because I had never designed a web page before. I was completely new to HTML/CSS. It was fascinating to see how the two worked so perfectly together. After I entered all my information into my HTML, I connected it with the pre-made CSS file. Once the two were linked together, I then made changes to the HEX colors and the font families to match my logo. Lastly, I used my designed skills to make sure my space was the same all the way around. I changed the padding around my logo and some of the text. Overall, this project was challenging and very meticulous, but it is a skill set I will be able to take into the work force. You never know when youll have to design a web page.
