Logos
Description: Create a visually appealing logo using Illustrator. Date: 11/2/13 Course / Instructor: Comm 130 Julie Peterson Programs / Tools: Adobe Illustrator Process: I decided to make myself a logo using only black and white because it creates nice contrast. I sketched a couple of ideas down on paper and then proceeded to interpret those sketches into Illustrator. Using the pen and text tools I created my logos. While designing I found that I really appreciate symmetrical designs. I also reversed the colors on all of my designs to see which I liked better. I couldnt decide on the middle logo which I liked best so I included both. I then decided on a font that went well with my designs and put that font with each of my logos.

Programs / Tools: Microsoft Word Process:

I started this project by scanning an image from a magazine and then created a sketch of what I wanted my flier to look like. Using that sketch I created a draft using Microsoft Word. After a critique with my classmates, I went back and made some necessary adjustments. This included adding more contrast using color and made better use of alignment.

Process:

I decided to improve my dads logo for his business. I created a logo using the pen, text, and shape tools. I then resized and fit the logo to a business card and letterhead layout. It was challenging to create a design that included the address and phone numbers that was pleasing to the eye.

Julie Peterson Create a black and white flier for a Graduate Leadership Conference.

Programs / Tools: Adobe InDesign Process:

First, I made some sketches of what I wanted the flier to look like. I was given the logo and content to create this flier and then using my sketches I created a draft in InDesign. After a critique I fixed some issues that needed to be corrected. I created more white space for contrast and made the body copy smaller.

Camera I used a DSLR camera to take pictures around campus and my apartment to figure out how the camera works. After I had taken a fair amount of pictures I returned to the Library to upload my favorite picture into photoshop and to begin editing. First, I cropped my image to the appropriate size. Then, I added the fresco filter to the fish and used the healing tool to touch up some dry water marks on the tank. I also desaturated the fish to make it darker than the rest of the picture.
