UTMs BUS SERVICE APPLICATION FORM MOBILE USER INTRODUCTION People and transportation are two different parties

but have strong relationship between each other. Transportation undoubtedly one of the best invention that created by people. Since the Henry Ford have invented the modern car as we know nowadays, the means of transportation have varies to every single person in this world. Transportation is the movement of people, animals, and goods from one location to another. As we living in the world without boundaries, transportation is very important to us as we need them to go to a certain places. Traditionally, the movements of people rely to human ability as they go by their own energy like walking. So, transportation here changes the culture and of course improves in many areas. Nowadays, transportation means everything to people as they use as part of their daily life and the trend that tend to rise every day, public transportation seems to take this responsibility. Public transportation provides people with mobility and access to employment, community resources, medical care, and recreational opportunities in communities across area. It benefits those who choose to ride, as well as those who have no other choice: over 90 percent of public assistance recipients do not own a car and must rely on public transportation. Public transit provides a basic mobility service to these persons and to all others without access to a car. The incorporation of public transportation options and considerations into broader economic and land use planning can also help a community expand business opportunities, reduce sprawl, and create a sense of community through transit-oriented development (Crichton, 2002). By creating a locus for public activities, such development contributes to a sense of community and can enhance neighborhood safety and security. For these reasons, areas with good public transit systems are economically thriving communities and offer location advantages to businesses and individuals choosing to work or live in them. And in times of emergency, public transportation is critical to safe and efficient evacuation, providing the resiliency of people needs in its emergency transportation network. Nowadays, people tend to use technology as a tool to solve, help or make it easier for their job or task. Same as the public transportation, we can see how technology can help in the matter of the development, maintaining or enhancement. For example, bus services now are served with the

Global Positioning Technology (GPS). GPS is attached to the vehicle and later will transmit data to the server. Then, server will read the data and later will be used in the specially designed application for bus service. With that, the management of bus service can monitor the bus location and later can be used as for checking, route analysis or just simply to view the bus location. This will help an organization to become more reliable and effective as the technology used helping them to manage their organization easier and well-organized.

BACKROUND STUDY Bus service is one of the facilities that have been prepared by the UTM for the students. Bus services undoubtedly one of the most services that used by the students. They use it to go to faculty, college, library, health center and also the shopping mall at the weekends. With all activities related to the usage of bus services, it means bus is the major transportation that used by students who does not possessed their own transport. Here information regarding bus services is provided through traditional ways like information board, maps, pamphlets and others. The information might be useful for certain purpose but it cannot solve an extended problem like the exact bus stop location, bus route for a specific college and also live tracking bus position. To solve this problem, an application can be develop which carry GIS study along with the development. With application, the information can be delivered in a more efficient ways and most importantly can be visualized and later give much more understanding to the user.

PROBLEM STATEMENT Bus service is one of the public transportation that has been prepared by the management board of UTM. Without a doubt, bus service is always used by students. Usually students like first year students depend on this public transportation as they are not allowed possessing their own vehicle. With that, bus service is very important to students. But, students always have problems regarding bus service. For example, they do not know which bus to take to go for a certain destination. Usually, the information board of bus service was located all around university on a strategic location. But with the large scale of campus area, it cannot cover the whole area of

campus to deliver the information. With that problem, students will lead to another problem like get lost or mistaken bus chosen. So, to solve these problems, we need a new way of delivering the information and with the expanding use of technology, an application that specially designed for the bus service can be developed and later will solve the problems regarding bus service in UTM.

AIM AND OBJECTIVES The main aim for this study is to deliver information regarding bus service like live bus tracking, bus routes, bus schedule and bus stop location, can be represented in an application that specially designed to be used by public user. The objectives of the study are: 1. To study the application development in major open source for mobile. 2. To develop an application that help user to retrieve information regarding UTMs bus service.

EXPECTED RESULT The idea to deliver the information with the application is developed in smartphone. As the rising popularity of smartphone usage becomes a trend, it can be used to deliver the information about the UTM bus service. As GIS carry the spatial attribute, we can use it as to solve the problem. Problems like bus delayed and getting late for the bus is usually happens and normally the problem is faced by first year student. With an application that is specially developed for the services, it can be used it to deliver the information. The application is made to give information, solve the problem or simply view the bus services in UTM campus.
