HORIZONS
Proudly serving the communities of Babbitt, Brainerd, Burnsville, Cook, Duluth, Ely, Eveleth, Grand Rapids, Metro/Faribault, Rochester, St. Cloud, Silver Bay and Willmar.

Merle White and his wife Alida have lived at Carefree Living Silver Bay since February 1, 2012. Prior to moving into CFL, Merle and Alida lived in their own home in Silver Bay and were active in their church and community, planting flowers at the local churches and around town. Merle was a horticulturist for Bachmans Nursery in the Twin Cities since 1948. He built the lake cottage home in Prior Lake that he and Alida lived in for 43 years prior to moving to Silver Bay. In addition to horticulture and nursery work, Merle is also very busy in his woodshop in the garage at Carefree Living making wooden bowls with his lathe. Merle also began the Rose Garden at CFL last year and many people living here and coming to visit have enjoyed taking time to smell the roses! Thank you Merle for all of your hard work and dedication to making our grounds here at Carefree Living so beautiful!

Eveleth Office Holds 1st Annual Holiday Food Drive

From December 2nd through December 20th Spectrum Eveleth Office will be accepting donations for our 1st Annual Holiday Food Drive! Donations will be given to Quad Cities Food Shelf. Spectrum encourages all of our facilities and branches to help their community during the holiday season.

John was always willing to do whatever we asked of him. He started as a resident assistant and then took on the maintenance position when it became available. He cooked in the kitchen when we needed help there too. He was kind to the residents and other staff. He played Santa last year at Christmas and wore a floppy hat and coconut bra in the Timber Days parade on our float. He was recently baptized and had a few staff and residents as his sponsors. He passed away November 30th and a memorial was held for him at Cook Carefree Living on December 4th. We all miss him very much. Submitted by Robin Pliml, Cook CFL Manager

Cook CFL held their annual Bake & Craft Sale on Saturday November 23, 2013. Residents, families and staff assisted or donated items for the sale. The sale had a good turn out with monies raised going toward resident activities. Along with the sale we had coffee an' and a Grocery Basket Raffle with the winner being the granddaughter of one of our residents. Baked goods include Dawn's famous Pumpkin Rolls, homemade pies, cookies and breads. Everyone worked hard and it paid off with a very successful sale.
