Lesson 5 And Furthermore Theres more! Can you believe it? The good stuff just doesnt stop. In the closing of Psalm 91, the Lord says: Psalm 91:16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation. Who isnt interested in honor and a long life? We can be so overwhelmed by the magnitude of all the previous promises of Psalm 91 that we miss the final one: show him My salvation. Show yada #0345 in the Strongs Meaning: personal experiential knowing Salvation Yasha #03444 Meaning of Yasha and its derivatives: Make wide Make sufficient Doesnt this sound like the God described in 2Chronicles16:9: For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

God is wanting you to personally experience breakthrough to some wide place of abundance!

When you study the words salvation, yasha and its derivatives in the Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament, you find this enlightening information:
1

The root meaning in Arabic is make wide or make sufficient; this root is in contrast to sarar or narrow which means be restricted or cause distress. That which is wide connotes freedom from distress and ability to pursue ones own objectives. Mention salvation and most people automatically this being born again. But opening your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ is just the first step in a path of blessings. When you look at the word in the Hebrew, you find that God will get involved in: Health Safety Defense Rescue/deliverance Prosperity Victory Salvation (by God). Does this sound too good? Look at a related scripture where God is saying basically the same thing to His people who are about to enter the Promised Land. You know, the one that is full of giants. Deut 30:14-16 The Word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. There is great abundance in God and He does not skimp in blessing us when we do what He requires. Can you see this high-value ticket to an abundant and satisfying life? Just got to pay the price! So, how do you need God to make a wider, more sufficient, more satisfying place in your life? Where do you need

freedom? In this promise to demonstrate salvation, a number of areas are open for a power-move of God. Now something else you need to know: the connotation with the word show is that God will open your eyes so that you will be able to see. But, you must make the decision To look and keep on looking for the hand of God To hunger and thirst for the power displays of God To resist the temptation to call these power moves coincidences. Challenge to Action (Actually, I think this whole lesson is a challenge to action!) 1. Mull over the bulleted list above regarding ways God wants to show His power (salvation, yasha) on your behalf. Do you need: A boost in health? Help with a relationship? Deliverance from debt? Freedom from a killer habit? Protection from some predator? Other 2. Select one or two ways you need to see God move. 3. Then ask for that intervening power of Gods salvation and begin to look with the expectation of seeing. Expect! Expect! Expect! This is putting action to your faith. As you see the answers come (and they may come in bits and pieces), keep a record in your journal. These are records you can return to often to stir your faith and to give God glory.

You are releasing the power of Psalm 91!

Stay with it! This is a way of life, not just a weeks project. And know that Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing. (Psalm 92:13-14)

Dear friend, That is the path you are on. Run as an athlete toward the prize that is offered.

Side Bar_________________________________________ Long Life What do we do with the long life promise when youve just had a friend die who you considered to be young? Ive held that question in prayer and found some comments from Matthew Henry and Charles Spurgeon that brought a bit of understanding. Briefly, what they say is that satisfaction in this life is the key factor. Spurgeon says, The man described in this Psalm fills out the measure of his days, and whether he dies young or old he is quite satisfied with life, and is content to leave it He shall rise from lifes banquet as a man who has had enough, and would not have more, even if he could. This helped me some. Face it, we dont have all the answers and often must live with Divine Mystery. An old poem by Bryan W. Proctor that I found and dragged from folder to folder seems appropriate to share with you here: They err who measure life by years, With false or thoughtless tongue; Some hearts grow old before their time; Others are always young. It is not the number of the lines On lifes fast filling page, 4

It is not the pulses added throbs, Which constitute their age. Some souls are serfs among the free, While others nobly thrive; They stand just where their fathers stood Dead, even while they live. Others, all spirit, heart, and sense, Theirs the mysterious power To live in thrill of joy or woe, A twelvemonth in an hour! Side Bar____________________________

Prayer Lord, You promise here in Ps 91 to show me Your salvation. In diligent word study, its clear to me that You are promising to demonstrate Your love and faithfulness Daily.. and in an ever increasing continuum... You are also expecting on my part a heart-hunger To experience the demonstration of Your love and concern. So I stir up my faith today to press in like the woman with the issue of blood, the woman who risked all to crawl through the crowd to take hold of the hem of Jesus garment, to take hold of the fullness of the life that is in Him. Her life was hanging in the balance. There must have been a great sense of urgency in her. O God, I feel a sense of urgency, too. And, I have made a decision to not respond with self effort and worldly-wise solutions to my urgent needs, but to stretch out the hand of faith and firmly grasp the fulfillment of Your promise: the promised demonstration of Your saving power exercised on my behalf.

With faith and confidence in You, Father.. and in Your promises.. I proclaim in prayer that I am a new creation in Christ.. That You have shown me Your salvation.. and continue to demonstrate Your salvation for me as an adopted child of Yours.. I am a citizen of heaven, forgiven of sin, freed from condemnation. I am accepted in Your Beloved.. And I am drawn into the satisfying love relationship That exists between You and Your Son.. I have a new heart and You are the strength of that heart. My heart is set on You and Your heart is set on me. Lord, I delight myself in You and You have given me the desire of my heart. You are the desire of my heart. I have found my delight in You. Lord, You are my satisfaction, my full sufficiency! I lift my face before You in worship.. You have become my gold and the choicest of silver.. I am filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy My soul rejoices in You, my God, for You have clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness I say, The Lord reigns! Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad, let the sea resound, and all that is in it rejoice! For, You Lord, reign! Amen!
