HISTORICAL STRUCTURAL STEELS OF THE WORLD

The table below shows steels that have been phased out as 'historical steels', as they may well be encountered under special
circumstances.
The user must appreciate that the steels are not fully defined by the values given and that further information is contained in
the relevant standards. For structural engineering purposes under normal temperatures and in the absence of shocks or
vibrations the values listed may well be adequate, as it can be assumed that steel made for structural purposes will tend to
have the required ductility, toughness and weldability to be used for construction. Furthermore, the table does not contain
every steel that has ever been made anywhere.
