Inside

BUENOS AIRES
With its sizzling nightlife, thrilling restaurants, stunning architecture and population of passionate Porteos, Buenos Aires, the Paris of the South, is Latin Americas hottest destination.

PACKING TIPS
1. The majority of females here wear light cotton trousers that are very fitted with light summer tops or skirts. There are young men wearing shorts herethey are longer slimmer cut, not low riding baggy things. And almost all men wear shirts with collars.TripAdvisor Member, Buenos Aires 2. Bring some nicer clothes for going out: People in Buenos Aires dress really nicely to go out to dinner. Especially women. Nice jeans and a nice top sound fine. You can keep it casual during the day.TripAdvisor Member, Norway 3. Take comfortable shoes for the day. Buenos Aires is a very walking-friendly city. TripAdvisor Member, Paris, France

The majority of Argentines are of European origin, as can be seen from architectural influences of faraway capitals, from Madrid to Bucharest. Mediterranean ways, such as long meals with family and friends, are an integral part of life in Buenos Aires. After the peso crisis of 2001, Buenos Aires fell from its previously pricey position, making the city supremely affordable for tourists and creating a focus on all things Porteo, including tango, for locals. For the tourist, savor Pampas grass-fed beef in hip Palermo or strut out of Palermo Sohos boutiques in Argentine designer wear. Summers start in December and are very hot and humid. January and February temperatures can hit 100F, with many places open for only limited hours or even closing entirely. Between June and August, temperatures drop significantly, and the city sees more rain than at any other time of year. Springtime (from September to November) and autumn (March to May) are the most pleasant and temperate times to visit.
