All high school students in California public schools are required to pass the CAHSEE. CAHSEE Test Preparation classes are offered in the Learning Center to prepare for this exam. Testing
The GED has changed! There is a new version of the GED test, which will now be administered on the computer only. Students who did not complete the previous version of the test will need to complete all sections of the new version. The Burbank Adult School (BAS) is an approved GED testing site. The cost for testing is anticipated to be $140. Testing registration including payment will be completed online only. BAS is currently in the process of working with the approved test provider, Pearson VUE to set up the required testing software. We anticipate that the test schedule will be posted online in January. Pre-Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Fee: $689 (16 weeks, 2/3/14 - 6/5/14; no class on 2/17/14, 3/24/14 - 3/27/14 & 5/26/14) Mandatory Orientation: 1/22/14 at 9 am. 062703 M - Th 8:45 am-1 pm BAS/B203 Powell (Average Annual Salary: $27,533). Attendance at orientation required. This course will prepare the student for employment in a skilled nurs ing facility or other long-term hospital facility. Includes resident care, nutrition, rehabilitation and emergency care. Graduates will be prepared to take the state competency examina tion for CNA. You are required to push, pull, stand, sit and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Students must have a social security card and photo ID. Students must demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal English. A Phlebotomy Technician draws blood from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, doctors office or clinic. Phlebotomy Technicians are in demand as one of the fastest growing occupations in healthcare. Fee includes textbooks, program materials, externship placement (40 required hours in addition to classroom hours) and certificate of completion. Ever wonder what goes through a photographers mind when preparing for a shoot? In this class, take an extensive look at the world of a professional photographer though digital photography. Camera operation and shooting techniques are covered. Processing of images is done in Adobe Photoshop on Macintosh computers. Studio shooting and field trips may be included in this class. Recommended prerequisite: Beginning Photography.

When you see your photography hanging on the wall, and all the feelings, and all the emotion that you felt when you took the shot is flowing out to you from the frame, a scream comes out saying YES, I did that. I produced that and it speaks to me. That is the feeling you will get when you start producing your own photography. We will explore natural and artificial lighting techniques for the best story lines to create the best images. Basic computer assembly and retouching will be taught as well as in camera composition. In the event that a class is cancelled OR if a student chooses to withdraw from a class at least two business days prior to the class start date, the student will be entitled to a full refund. The fee for each class follows the course title. Checks, money orders, credit cards and cash will be accepted. Returned checks will be charged a $20 fee payable in cash only. There is a $10 processing fee for all refunds not due to class cancellations. No refunds will be issued to any student after the first scheduled class session (including no shows). There are no refunds for class materials and/ or books purchased by students.
