OTHER POSITIONS REPORTING TO DAU Team Leader - Analytics: None ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT: The Cancer Council NSW is passionately committed to defeating cancer and we are harnessing the use of data and analysis to achieve this goal in the most effective way. Part of this commitment was the establishment of the Data Analytics Unit to provide data extractions, reports, analysis and consultation services to the rest of the organization. More recently, the organization has also invested in the development of a Customer Relationship Management approach to further increase the opportunities offered by the strategic use of data. The Data Analytics Unit is deemed to be central to the organizations objective of maximizing the impact on Cancer through the strategic use of data. KEY PURPOSE: To provide business users key organisational information through the effective implementation of data initiatives including business intelligence reporting solutions, data mining and analysis and by promoting a data aware culture throughout the organisation. To contribute to the evolving data requirements of the organisation by providing analysis, models, data mining and building and maintaining reports to support fundraising requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsibilities Delivering analytics on the business critical objective of understanding how to maximise the value from our financial supporters; inclusive of optimizing the opportunity of moving supporters up the donor pyramid and forecasting potential growth. This will be in the form of data mining, profiling analysis, building analytical models and report authoring in Cognos 8 or a similar reporting suite. Produce reports and analysis to enable different business program to maximize future contribution from our financial supporters. One aspect of the role will be supporting the Retention Manager through profile analysis and model development. Perform data mining to meet ad hoc needs, answer miscellaneous queries or advise on improvements to data quality / structuring.

Design and implement reporting & business intelligence solutions using a variety of tools including Cognos BI Suite and MS Report Builder. Develop a detailed understanding of core business processes to facilitate information support and business intelligence solutions that service CCNSW needs. Create and maintain Data Warehouse views for use by DAU team members in their projects. Be an active stakeholder, providing input into the CRM process, as directed, to ensure that CCNSW has a CRM system that accurately reflects business need. Provide help in the development of a new Data Warehouse in line with CRM changes. Development, enhancement and maintaining procedure documentation for data projects. As well as understand and document business data and reporting requirements from users at all levels within the organisation. Continually review procedures to ensure accuracy and maximize efficiency. Ensure Data Warehouse reporting documentation/training materials are created and maintained. Maintain detailed SQL knowledge to provide expert support to unit team members and key business stakeholders and to provide extracts such as the National Post Event Analysis extract for Cancer Council Australia (CCA). Maintain an understanding of ITIL components such as Service Level Agreements, Change Management, Problem and Incident management, and facilitate adoption within the data services team. Occupational Health and Safety - Follow all Cancer Council health and safety policies and procedures - Report all known or observed hazards to Manager or Supervisor - Take reasonable care at work to ensure your own and others' safety SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: Strong report authoring skills Excellent SQL skills Excellent analytical skills inclusive of data mining, data modelling, extractions, profiling Excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to understand customer needs and convert a descriptive brief to a data query/extract specification. The ability to deliver multiple projects on time, and work autonomously in a high-pressure, deadline driven environment. Attention to detail and the ability to quality check work and review processes. Ability to understand business requirements and translate to an appropriate analytical or reporting solution Excellent verbal, written and communication skills A positive, proactive and 'service-orientated' approach to project delivery

Experience in working effectively with a diverse range of staff and managers Desirable: Dimensional modelling Cognos (or similar) experience Exposure to other components of the MS SQL Server 2005 toolset including SSAS and MS Report Builder Experience in database or data warehouse administration and management within an ITIL based environment or ITIL certification
