INITION

A Co-operative is an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically controlled enterprise.
VALUES

Co-operatives are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and helpful for others.

PRINCIPLES
he Co-operative principles are guidelines by which co-operatives put their values into practice.

Co-operatives are voluntary organi!ations, open to all persons able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political or religious discrimination. ())Principle of De%ocr"!ic Me%&er Con!rol Co-operatives are democratic organi!ations controlled by their members, who actively participate in setting their policies and ma"ing decisions, men and women serving as elected responsibilities are accountable to the membership. In primary cooperatives members have equal voting rights #one member one vote$ and co-operatives at other levels are also organi!ed in a democratic manner.

(*)Principle of Me%&er Econo%ic p"r!icip"!ion %embers contribute equitably to, and democratically control the capital of their co-operative. At least part of that capital is usually the common property of the cooperative. %embers usually receive limited compensation, if any, on capital subscribed as condition of membership. %embers allocate surpluses for any of the following

purposes' developing their co-operative, possibly by setting up reserves, part of which at least would be indivisible, benefiting members in proportion to their transactions with the Co-operative, and supporting other activities approved by the membership. If they enter into agreements with other organi!ations, including governments or raise capital from e(ternal sources they do so on terms that ensure democratic control by their members and maintain their co-operative autonomy. Cew Accounts are opened as well as old accounts are closed in this department. Accounts are of three types #a$ Current Accounts #b$ 4avings Account #c$ C:C -26 Account. 6aily nearly on an average about 1? to 1& current accounts and 1+ to &? savings accounts are opened and 1 or & are closed everyday. he procedure for opening new accounts in the ban" starts with filling up the form given by the ban". he ban" has nearly about +E?? account and 1=?? saving accounts. he requirements for opening a current account are two photographs #passport si!e$ of the account holder and if the account is opened for a company or firm then the photographs of the directors or proprietor or administrator, the signature and account number of a person or a firm having current account in the ban", personal account number of the person:of the firm who wants to open a new account in the ban" and license of the firm or the company. o open savings account only one photograph #passport si!e$ of account holder, signature of the account holder in the same ban" as well as papers or documents which give true and fair residential address such as driving license, rationing card, light:phone:gas bill and school leaving certificate, etc. he minimum balance for Current Account is ,s. )??? and the minimum balance for the 4aving Account is ,s. 1???. As the ban" is fully computeri!ed at the end of the day scanning of the signatures of the new account holders is done. his is an important tas". >hich is to be performed very well and if any mista"e is made it will affect all the department of the ban" in relation with the account holder. he issue of Cheque /oo" and 9ass /oo" department is informed to ma"e Cheque /oo" and 9ass /oo" for the new accounts which are opened on that particular day. In this department there are three employees. hus the ban" employees of this department are having their end of the day with the process of scanning. In this department, new 9ass /oo" and Cheque /oo" are issued. he new account department gives details of new customers and according to that new Cheque /oo" and 9ass /oo" are issued. his department consists of only one employee who gives cheque boo" and pass boo" to the customers. A customer, who are in need of a new Cheque /oo" have to apply a day before with a counter given in the old Cheque /oo". -or each account holder it is compulsory to allow at least five Cheques to be cleared or presented to the ban" for issuing a new Cheque /oo". 6aily ;? to ;+ new Cheque /oo"s are issued to the customers. As the ban" is fully computeri!ed if any fraud or changes are made by customer in cheque boo", the computer will reject the cheque number because the while issuing Cheque /oo", the numbers of cheque are recorded in the computer.
