President#s $e%ort Bcont=dC I loo! forward to an e/citing new year ahead5 continuing on with the rides5 the get togethers and the social and technical support that we as club gi(e to each other. @;o atter what you ride5 itDs all the sa e windA

ca e out as clear winner and @Guru of going slowA with a blistering ti e across the 34 etre course of F2.4E seconds Bnot bad for a %ogC. )he board ride was ne/t up. Most of us ha(e a lo(e hate relationship with this e(ent. :o(e it because it=s challenging? hate because so e of the guys a!e it loo! easy Bit=s (ery hard to asterC. Riding your bi!e on a long narrow board5 slowly5 without putting your feet down is really hard. ;ot any people ade it fro one end of the board to the other. A few of us ade the full length but Mi!e5 +i and the Scud iester fought it out for supre acy. 0ur new *ice #resident Andrew won the day with a sphincter puc!ering speed of 12.F" seconds. 12.F" seconds doesn=t sound (ery i pressi(e Bunless that was >uarter ile drag race ti es on y Indian #rinceC5 but when you consider that at idle speed in first gear it ta!es about F seconds to ride the board on y old scout5 12.F" seconds eans the Sch uds was barely o(ing for ost of his ride. *ery i pressi(e and (ery well done Bbloody showoffC. )he ne/t slowest ti e was logged by our new &l #residente Mic! with a brutally slow 14."< seconds )he 8lag race was (ery entertaining with lots of fol!s !noc!ing cones o(er . a few stalls at the flag end and of course the Harley tea was handicapped by ha(ing e on the tea . So this was a hard fought e(ent . but after the dust cleared it was tea Indian as clear winners. ;e/t e(ent was the tea slalo sprint. It=s (ery si ilar to the pre(ious e(ent with the e/ception of the last leg. )he bi!es wea(e through the flags fro one end of the course to the other end and then sprint bac! to the start line. )his is a popular e(ent as it=s the only one where you get to gi(e the bi!e a fistful of throttle. It sounds li!e you need a fast bi!e for this one but usually if you get through the slalo section fast the sprint doesn=t a!e uch difference to your ti e. It=s huge fun. )his was enthusiastically contested but tea Harley reigned supre e Bgo the "E Indian Scout5 u HarleyC. )he ,all 9ic! was another tussle for the title. %e run this e(ent as a tea challenge BHarley ( IndianC. )wo bi!es run at the sa e ti e with each rider ha(ing to ride their bi!e and !ic! a craypot float fro one end of the course to the other. 0nce the ball crosses the line at the other end the ne/t rider ta!es off and !ic!s it bac!

Ride Report
Pre-AGM Event
:adies and Gents )he AGM and Gy !hana Bsorry I= not supposed to call it that any oreC5 was again a great success. )he nu bers were down a little fro pre(ious years and this ore than li!ely had a lot to do with the serious threat of rain for ost of the day. It see s any of the bi!es in our club are allergic to incle ent weather. &ight starters eant we had an e(en split for two tea s BIndian and HarleyC although to a!e up nu bers I had to run with the Harley crew on y 1<"E Scout. )he Scout wasn=t happy at all about being in the Harley tea 5 and it i ediately started lea!ing oil B ore than usual anywayC. )he first e(ent was the slow ride5 and let e tell you this one is harder than it sounds. )he object is to ride your bi!e as slowly as you possibly can o(er the length of the designated course without putting your feet down. )he rider with the slowest ti e o(er the course wins. %e ran this e(ent two bi!es at a ti e just to a!e it interesting and to gi(e the riders a gauge on speed. It also gets the (ery co petiti(e guys really e/cited which is good for the spectators. Although it sounds easy it ta!es a lot of practice and it=s (ery hard to do. After uch cursing and a few retries by e(eryone +i y of tea Indian 2

until the whole tea has been across the course. Mic! )olj a used e(eryone by balancing his scout on top of the ball Bwe should a!e this an e(ent as wellC. It loo!s pretty difficult Mic!. )ea Indian won the ,all 9ic! con(incingly ta!ing the to the lead in the tea e(ents. )he !ic! start was also (ery hotly contested. )his e(ent is best suited to a (ery well tuned and prepped s aller achine although so e bra(e souls ga(e it a go on -hiefs and G odels and did >uite well I ight add. )he idea is to see how any ti es the rider can start his achine in a inute. %ell it used to be a inute. %e brought it down to 24 seconds this year because ost of us are getting a little older and after one inute !ic!ing a bi!e we start to loo! li!e e ergency ward candidates5 or a fat !id after chasing an ice crea truc!. )he bi!e has to start Bat least a couple of respectable farts out the bac!C5 and stop fully and no s art asses with that ta e @push button startyA crap is allowed to enter. Again so e (ery i pressi(e ti es were entered as well as so e (ery colourful language at ti es. After all the !ic!ing and cussing there can only be one winner and our new *ice #residenteA reigned supre e with a ha y straining 1F starts in 24 seconds on his Scout. Good job Andrew. Second was Mic! )olj on his rusty Bsorry H trustyC Indian Scout with a 1" start effort. So a salubrious ti e was had by all who attended. -ongratulations to all of the people that ga(e it a go and a round of applause Band Me/ican wa(eC to tea Indian for ta!ing out the uch co(eted @%ayne organi'ed Gy !ahanaA trophy or %0G )rophy for short. And all of you couch co petitors who didn=t a!e it issed a good day. 9eep the shiny side up5 and your grasshopper season. Regards %ayne &le'o(ich 6.A.M. BMe ber I"C outh shut in

0n returning the hills boys dro(e up with the e(ents gear and bi!es on their utes and trailers. 8a ily e bers were there as well. ,arry #ollard arri(ed with his newly -hief that had been wor!ed on by %ayne. %hat a beauty it is too. )he lanes were set out in >uic! ti e and participants set about practicing. )here were ore Indians than Harleys this year so %ayne (olunteered to be on the Harley side e(en though he rode a Scout. )han!s %ayne .)his year we see ed to go through the e(ents fairly snappily . -o petition was good and >uite few giggles were had watching the antics. Andrew is a whi'' at these e(ents and his s!ill is i pressi(e to watch. Mi!e=s balancing tric! on the cray float was different. Geo and :inda were judges and starter and (ery i partial they were too. 6uring the orning Stefan5 Regina5 :yndon5 #aul5 Ale/ 5 Audrey and +ason arri(ed. 8ollowing the e(ents fol! settles down to a sausage si''le e/pertly coo!ed by :inda and Mi!e. )han!s are e/tended to Mi!e and all others who bought the food5 set up the barbie and drin!s and coo!ed the snaggers. Much appreciated. After lunch we had our AGM which saw a slight changing of the guard. A otion was put forward by Geo that the club ha(e a #atron. )his was (oted on in the affir ati(e. ;o inations were called as to who the inaugural patron ight be. Geo no inated %ayne who was subse>uently elected unani ously. Again our appreciation goes to all those who ha(e contributed to the club o(er the past year especially Rod :ewis. -ongratulations go to the newly elected -o ittee e bers. %e urge all e bers to attend the -hrist as ride and wish you a Merry -hrist as and a safe happy ;ew Kear.
